MISE-EN SCENEBy Hadley Stones

COSTUME

Kameron and Ellias We will have our two brothers dressed in black winter coats and black clothing such as black boots and trousers. This is to give a sense of no emotion and the unknown because I feel that the colour black connotes that colour perfectly. We will be combining the use of winter coats and black boots to make him look military like and give an aspect of force however he seems like quite an anarchistic figure.

Thugs◦ The thugs we will be using will be wearing smart but clothes that show some force

and they are not to be messed with. This will include we think stuff such as big black coats formal shoes and trousers and maybe a shirt tie to give a sort of business but army approach. Also the use of black to connote the unknown, this being nobody knowing their pasts or how Kameron or Ellias met them to give them move mystery and build enigma.

Hostages◦ The hostages both men and women will be wearing suits as we feel this would

make them smart and show they are people of business and importance. The suits will be a good contrast to Kameron and Ellias who are wearing winter coats and also shows that the hence men are a mixture of both sets of Characters with both a business mind and an anarchistic mind.

LIGHTING

Interior ◦ The lighting inside the barn will be quite low key as we only have one overhead

light but we feel this will be a nice contrast from the light from dawn we get on the exterior. The low key lighting will be used to portray the feeling of a enigmatic scene to quest into why Kameron is doing the things he is.

Exterior ◦ Outside the barn in the first few establishing shots will be high key natural

lighting from when the sun comes up which will give us a visual pleasing establishing scene.

ACTORS

Use of actors and Cast◦ The use of actors in our film opening will be used effectively in the sense that if we

cast the right people to play the right characters then we feel it will show the characters in the way we want them to come across to the audience and they will create enigma especially in Kameron and Ellias characters.

MAKE UP

Make up ◦The make up we will be using in our film opening will be uses of fake

blood and scars and some bruises to connote the use of violence towards the hostages as well as it being used to create fear. The heaviest use of this will be in the shooting scene when Kameron shoots one of the male hostages.

PROPS

Head Bags for HostagesThe bags we are going to use in our film opening will either be burlap sacks or black cotton bags. We are doing this because we wont to generate fear amongst the hostages and we feel if we actually put the actors with these a sense of they cant see anything or know what's going on around them. This will create a distressed feel to the film opening and also connote fear and anarchy. Which ultimately our film opening is about.

Gun We will be using guns in the opening of our film to connote fear amongst the characters in our opening. Especially towards the hostages by Elias and Kameron. We are doing this as we said to connote fear and also because Guns are a key part of the action genre so we are sticking to the conventions of an action genre in the sense of guns and violence which is also what they represent.

SETTING

Setting◦ The setting we will be using is an outdoor countryside scene for the establishing

shots which will show that Kameron has taken them away from their natural habitat so to speak and taken them where nobody will look. This will be used for the opening few shots including the establishing shot.

◦ The next scenes until the title shot will be inside a rusty old barn which is very enigmatic because it creates the theme of fear and the unknown. It also creates a sense of isolation for the hostages and not knowing what's outside those doors.
