The following slides that have been analysed have different features of movie trailers that we

have liked and have generated ideas whilst

making our story board.

Sound In the trailer there is more dialogue at the beginning of the

trailer than the end as the dialogue is used to slow down the

pace of a trailer. There is less dialogue as the trailer progresses

and when dialogue is presents it short phrases that are use to

keep the suspense and anticipation high.

The non-diegetic sound throughout the trailer stops at times

and is sometimes replaced with dialogue.

The non-digetic sound starts off soft with the strings as the

main characters are first introduced, it continues halfway

through the trailer then the trailer becomes a bit more intense

and the music is switched with one of a faster tempo and more

bass. This reflects the flowing scenes which display more

action emitting eagerness from its audience.

Camera angles /movement

The camera angles and movement are important as they relate

to the film moments. It captures the main things to give the

scene impact. For example the camera showed Trevor (Aml

Ameen) on the floor with a high level shot demonstrating that

he is at this point a weak character. It then jumps cuts to Sam

(Noel Clarke) and pans over him from a low angle shot. This

shows the relationship between the two characters as enemies

and illustrates Sam as the more domineering character.

Editing There are lots of straight cuts to prevent revealing characters

reaction so it fades to next scene.

Editing The tag lines maybe used as a device that controls the

pace of the trailer . By interrupting the scene it allows

you to take the previous scene in. for example in Bullet

Boy the little boy is holding a gun but the way he’s

holding it shows inexperience and as the scene fades

into the tagline it leaves the audience in shock that a

young boys innocence is fading. Their use of tag lines

draw you into the story, it gives you a written synopsis.

By doing it a couple of words at a time it makes the

audience follow on till it makes sense.

The These fast shots from Bullet Boy are less than a

second apart from each other, speeding up the pace of

the trailer. The fast shot tease the audience and allow

them to let there imagination carry them away by

guessing what is to happen next.

Style of transitions type for instance the use of the fade

Sound The music is by massive attack the piano plays for a

few seconds as the police are taking the guy away and

the whole song is soft emitting pity form the audience.

As the trailer goes into the next scene the drums come

in imitating a heartbeat , the music gets louder it holds

the audiences attention

Starts with a prayer, the volume of the

prayer overtakes the diegetic sound

whilst showing different moving images

relevant to the prayer.

There is narrative throughout the whole

trailer. Although the narrator changes.

Jody was saying the prayer at the

beginning for the 1st 20seconds. It

introduces the type of character he is

and lets us in on what’s to come in the

movie. The narrator speaks after Jody but takes

a pause when a character speaks.

The framed moving image with the

caption shows the different ways to

introduce a character. for example Jody

looks intimidating this explains part of

his character.
