My experience of starting uni

I didn't realize how different things could be when I started uni

Both my parents grew up here, they know everyone

in this town

Well everyone that matters

It was good because we had good connections

Handy for when I wanted a part time

job

I knew I fitted in

I thought going to uni close to home I would fit right in

But uni seems different

I feel a bit out of my depth

I don't know so many people at uni

Many of my mates moved south to go to uni

There are lots of people from other places, people I don't know

I'm sort of not in control anymore

My dad knows people in management but none of my lecturers

Don't get me wrong, I'll get used to it

But everyone is so different and strange
