Overview• I am going to create a magazine focused on

mainstream/popular music. I chose this genre due

to an interest in the genre.

• Because of this genre, it will be designed to appeal

to a wide, mainstream audience.

Style• Taking influence from similar publications, such as Q

magazine, the house-style of the magazine will

comprise of bright, bold colours, with an easy-to-

read font and text size.

• The language used will be fairly informal/colloquial,

similar to that of Kerrang!.

InstitutionA mainstream magazine, which would appeal to a large audience, would likely be published by a large company, like the Bauer Media Group, due to the large audience, and so high potential for profit. The BMG already produces magazines such as Q and Kerrang!, distributing them on a national scale.

However, my magazine differs from Q in that it has a much brighter colour scheme, and also targets a generally younger audience. Therefore, BMG would be interested in publishing due to the unique demographic of the magazine, which their current range does not explicitly target.

Target Audience• Age group: late teens-twenties

• Gender, religion, etc.: My

magazine should not have any

preference in these areas, I want

to reach as wide an audience as

possible.

average salaries.(C1-E

demographics)

• General interests: mainstream

music, magazines, etc.
