•As my magazine is targeted to attract teenagers interested in the indie genre of music, it makes sense for my magazine to represent this social group. As well as representing the genre, my magazine will also be representing the teenage social group of ages between 13-19.

Looking at my front cover image, I tried to make my model look like a stereotypical ‘indie’ guy. I was hoping that, because my magazine is aimed at both sexes, the girls would find the guy attractive and the guys would want his hair or style. I found a picture on Google of what a stereotypical ‘indie’ guy looks like (below) and then aimed to make my model look like that guy in particular. I used the theme of stripes on the clothing and the messy hair. However, I wanted to make my model look less manly than the photo below as my some of my target audience are young (13-14) and may not be attracted or want to copy the model on the front cover. The fact that both models in the picture are making direct eye contact with the camera draws the reader in and makes them feel like they can connect with the model on a certain level. I decided to take my photographs outdoors as the lighting for the photographs was really good and I liked the idea and breaking the convention of indoor studios. The poses in both photographs are quite casual, but has an air of attitude around them. I tried to achieve this in my picture and I think it was successful and definitely relates to a teenage indie audience and I think the model in the photograph is someone they will want to be like or can relate too.

Looking at my double page spread overall, because the person I am interviewing is within the ages of my target audience the article represents the social group my magazine is interested in attracting. The article goes into music in depth and this obviously reflects that the social group my magazine represents takes music and lyrics seriously as it plays a big part in their life. The article also goes into the artists personal life that again the social group will take an interest in and shows they have diversity in their interests when it comes to music and the artists. It shows that my target audience want to go to know the artists they are interested in on a personal basis as well as just listening to their songs and interpreting their own opinions on the lyrics and the artists. My target audience should feel like they get more from the artist’s music if they understand them on a personal level and this is why it is included in my article. The interview feels should have the feel to my target audience of a chat around the coffee table and should feel like a casual yet in depth conversation.
