Online Athletic Therapy Degree offered by National University of Medical Sciences

National University of Medical Sciences is now offering an online on-demand IBCAT accredited master ofscience degree in athletic therapy.

The board of governors of the National University of Medical Sciences (www.numms.com) in Madrid,Spain has approved a new Master of Science program in Athletic Therapy – MSc (AT). The program is oneyear full time and can be taken entirely online on-demand with optional practical campus based techniqueclasses in Toronto, Canada & Madrid, Spain.

Athletic Therapy (also known as athletic training in the USA, sports therapy in Europe & Australia, &biokinetics in South Africa) is the prevention, immediate care, treatment and rehabilitation ofmusculoskeletal injuries by an Athletic Therapist (aka athletic trainer, sports therapists, biokineticist). Itinvolves the assessment of physical function, the treatment of dysfunction caused by pain and/or injury inorder to develop, maintain and maximize independence and prevent dysfunction. User groups of thisservice are varied and can include but are not limited to people with a musculoskeletal injury that may beactive individuals, injured workers, motor vehicle accident injuries, recreational athletes, professionalathletes and competitive amateur athletes.

What many people think of as Sports Medicine is actually Athletic Therapy. The Athletic Therapists workswith physicians and other medical personnel, employers, patients, parents, guardians, and athletic personnelin the development and coordination of efficient and responsive health care delivery systems. AthleticTherapists are integral members of the health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities,professional sports teams, sports medicine clinics, MVA rehabilitation clinics, WSIB clinics, assessmentcenters, gyms, health clubs, corporate /industrial, and other health care settings. Athletic Therapists mayalso open their own health clinics or health clubs.

There is no unemployment in this health profession as everyone finds employment or opens his/her ownprivate athletic therapy clinic. The average annual income depends on jurisdiction but generally rangesfrom $41,000 to $78,000. The demand for Athletic Therapists is increasing at an exponential rate.

Out of the 13 colleges & universities offering athletic therapy degree programs that are approved byIBCAT, National University of Medical Sciences of Medical Sciences has the lowest tuition.
