PAPER AND PENCIL ASSESSMENT
INTRODUCTION Refers to a general group of
assessment tools in which students read questions and repond in writing.
this include tests, such as knowledge and ability tests, and inventories, such as personality and interest.
the traditional paper and pencil assessment, ask students to read a
selection and then answer questions about
it.
it can satisfactory measure students
understanding, knowledge, concepts,
and principles.
ADVANTAGES In a short answer response
format and multiple choice, it is easy to score.
in short answer response format it is less time required to write questions compared to multiple choice ones.
in essay, there are only few topics can be categorize, it is consider as an easy way to construct a test questions.
DISADVANTAGES it does not develop the Higher Order Thinking Skills of a student.
students who do well in paper and pencil tests of grammar and sentence – structure, but makes mistakes when using the same form in oral interaction.
CONCLUSION In making a paper and pencil
assessment, a teacher should follow an efficient method on how to assess. All assessment methods must provide information that is relevant to the qualification(s) being assessed. The first thing, a teacher must do is to list the topic areas/tasks, then, specify the response format, number of questions, the time limit and the difficulty level. Next is to write the questions and develop the scoring guide, review the questions and scoring guide.
there are many different methods of assessment exist, each of it has it’s own strengths and weaknesses.
in paper and pencil assessment, students provide written responses to write items. Typically, paper and pencil assessment include questions to answer, to address through paragraph responses, problems to be solve and others.
