National Center for Responsible GamingEstablished as a nonprofit in 1996 to help individuals and families affected by gambling disorders by:

Supporting the finest peer-reviewed, scientific research into pathological and youth gambling

Encouraging practical applications of research findings to improve prevention, diagnostic, intervention and treatment strategies

Advancing public education about gambling disorders and responsible gaming

Responsible Gaming Programs: A Growing Need Most gaming jurisdictions – including tribal

governments – require casinos to have responsible gaming programs

Many casinos lack tools and information needed to make lasting impact

Real need expressed for comprehensive programs and resources to promote responsible gaming among employees and patrons

The NCRG created the Partnership for Excellence in Education and Responsible Gaming (PEER) program to address this need.

Concept Behind PEER

In 2003, the American Gaming Association (AGA) enacted the AGA Code of Conduct for Responsible Gaming, one of the world’s most respected and comprehensive responsible gaming programs

Accessibility to these resources has in the past been restricted to AGA member companies

Through a unique partnership between the AGA and the NCRG, membership in the PEER program provides full access to the PEER Resource Guide, a blueprint for implementing provisions of the AGA Code

Elements of PEERThe PEER Resource Guide – housed on the NCRG Web site – provides the tools to develop and implement a world-class responsible gaming education program, no matter the size of the organization. These include:

Videos, worksheets and other learning tools for employees

Information on responsible gaming training programs, including special membership rates for EMERGE, the premier training program

Best practices resources outlining elements of successful existing programs

Brochures, signage and other materials about responsible gaming, the odds of casino games, unattended minors and related topics

EMERGE In-Depth

EMERGE (Executive, Management and Employee Responsible Gaming Education), is a science-based employee education program

EMERGE is designed to exceed the requirements of company and state regulations

EMERGE is customizable and translates the most current scientific research on gambling disorders into a practical tool for casino employees.

Additional Benefits PEER program members will receive the NCRG’s

PEER Program Seal, identifying your organization as having made a commitment to responsible gaming

If hands-on assistance is required, a trained PEER Program Ambassador will work with you to develop and implement a tailored program

PEER members will be recognized as supporters of the NCRG

Getting Started

You’re just three easy steps away from putting your organization on the road to developing a world-class responsible gaming program:

1. Join the PEER Program

2. Decide if your organization requires assistance from a PEER Program Ambassador

3. Decide if you want to utilize the cutting-edge EMERGE employee training program

PEER Membership

Available to any individual gaming enterprise not currently an AGA member

Annual membership fees determined on a sliding scale according to the size of your organization

Additional costs will be incurred for EMERGE training and/or in-person consultation with a PEER Program Ambassador

Since materials are administered through the NCRG, membership fees will

be used to fund research and outreach related to responsible gaming
