How are we approaching to plurilingualism?

Page 7: Presentación proyecto plurilingüismo del centro

Previous facts:

- There is a gap in the regional law as far as private schools run with public funds are concerned.- We cannot become members of European Sections because they are established by law only for State Public Schools.- Plurilingualism is a demand of regional, state and EU governments, and required by society (jobs, studies, personal developement etc)

What can we do?

… dozens of actions can be carried out…

Are there any innovations left in this field?INNOVATE

There are a lot of items to be researched for every single school, either public of private, as students, backgrounds, teachers …are different

Page 10: Presentación proyecto plurilingüismo del centro

Simon Harris (British Council – Barcelona):

Language learning activities are based on the needs, motivations, and characteristics of the learners.

Page 11: Presentación proyecto plurilingüismo del centro

We can learn what these needs, motivations, and characteristics are, by answering these questions:

How much time can our students afford to spend?

What will our students need to do with the language? What will our students need to learn in order to do what they want?

What makes our students want to learn? What sort of people are our students?

What knowledge, skill and experience do their teachers possess?

What access do our students have to resources?

Page 12: Presentación proyecto plurilingüismo del centro

All these items made us design our path into pluriligualism, taking into account:

We will have little or no funds at all for it…It must be a community projectAll teachers must get involved somehow…We must find our Raison d´être as far as learning languages is concerned…

Glenn Doman:

Intelligence is the degree of ability that a person has got in order to see the difference between how things are, and how they could be, and make them be as close as possible as they could be.

We should spend more time doing things for the world rather than being worried about it.

Characteristics:

-They are organised around ten divisions of knowledge (art, biology…) each of them containing ten categories (birds, mammals …) each category containing ‘bits of intelligence’ (facts, clear, accurate… lion, elephant…)- Each flashcard must be accurate, with only one item, new (not known by the kid previously), presented in groups of ten.- You must be in front of the kids when presenting the card, it must not be exposed more than one second and you must say it aloud clearly.- You must show it about three times a day along a week.
