First of all, we would like to thank our psychology lecturer, Mr. T. Shankar for giving us the chance to do this project, which is to make a video clip by comprising five different concepts that we learnt in class. After finishing this project, we get to understand more about the concepts by relating them into our usual daily life. After analysing the concepts we learnt so far, we managed to pick five among all and substitute them into our story. These five concepts are “self-concept”, “social learning”, “schema”, “self-serving bias” and “altruistic model”.

In this project, all the students are divided into groups of four. We do not know each other well at the beginning. Although it sounds like a difficult task from the very beginning, but surprisingly, all of us corporate well in the end. Everything goes smoothly. We took only more than one hour for the video shooting and the outcome is really good.

In the process of making the video, every one of us is in charge of different parts. We are all very grateful that each of us is in the same group because we really work well together. Jiayi is in charge of taking the video; she contributed by lending out her camera and giving out ideas on how to take better angles. Besides, she is also in charge of editing video since she has good skill in editing video. Angeline also takes part in editing video by adding subtitle and concepts. Kaizer is the narrator of the video because he has a deep voice while Reehan is the main character of the video. We split up different parts to finish the report. A big thanks to what they have contributed.

Project IntroductionThis project is comprised of 3 parts, which are making up a video

clip by incorporating the concepts learned in class, write a report of the video clip and presenting the video clip in class. In this assignment, we are able to recognize and identify connection among concepts within psychology, and by acting as a character we set in the video clip, we got the chance to be more understanding about the concepts and become self-regulated learners.

Briefly introduce about our video clip, it is a 4 minutes long video depicting a short story concluding 5 concepts. The story is about a guy name Ree han, he is an outstanding student since he was young. He always gets the first price in class and his parents are always proud of him. As time goes longer, he started to be weary of praising by others. He has the self- concept that everything he did is always correct and always thinks that he is the smartest one. Day by day, he turns from a humble person to an arrogant person.

Time flies, he graduates and he got his first job. He works as a manager in a company and he always has a schema that everything he did is perfect. Angeline is a co-worker in the company. Reehan always has an opinion about what Angeline done and because of his personality, Reehan has no friend. He likes to take all the credit for the good work but put the blame on his colleague when the things turn out badly (self-serving bias). Kaizer is a co-worker and everyone likes him very much because of his helpful and cheerful personality. Ree Han decided to get closer with Kai zer beacause he wants to be like him (social learning). Kaizer always helps Reehan on work and guides him to become a better person without any benefits (altruistic). They always work together and after a period, the relationship between Reehan and his colleagues turns better.

Method

We plan to raise awareness of the viewers about the changes in attitude may affect our daily lives. We choose this story as it is more suitable and easier to explain, we are able to reach out to the viewer’s more effectively. Viewers can relate to this story because most viewers are students. The story takes viewers through the life of the main character from his childhood years until his adolescence. The story shows how people’s attitude can change in time.

We started off with an innocent and bright character, who is humble and an ace student. Overtime, he became more and more proud, thus developing his ego. When he enters the working field, he notices a lot of changes. Co-workers are becoming annoyed and frustrated due to him try to micromanage their work. He also takes credit for a job well done, but doesn't take the fall when the task had failed. He has becoming a nuisance, nobody likes him. As time pass, he began to feel lonely and desperately in need of a friend at work. He first starts to befriend a guy, which is the friendliest person in the office. Slowly, he'd learn to accept others opinions and became more open minded. His co-workers also start to see the good in him, his efficiency in work and his aspiration to socialize. He is now a changed man, socializing and working happily with his co-workers.

Concepts

1. Self-concept Ree Han is the top student in his school. He was often praised by his parents, teachers and friends ever since he was young. Therefore, his self-concept about himself is smart, clever and intelligent.

2. SchemaBecause that he is smart, he has the self-schema of having the brightest idea ever. When he joined the work force, he doesn’t take the ideas of others.

3. Self-serving Bias Ree Han takes all the credits of success to himself while blaming others for failure.

4. Social learning. As time goes by, people started to isolate ReeHan. He found out that his behaviors had eventually irritated a lot of people. So he decided to be friend with Kaizer, so that he could learn something from him.

Appendix

1. Narration

My name is ReeHan, always being the most excellent, an A+ student, I am always proud of myself. I’m often praised by my teachers and parents. I felt lucky to be blessed with this intelligence.

During my school days, I’ve always topped in my class. My classmates would approach me on their own. I became more arrogant as I grow up.

When I join the work force, I get promoted quickly and became a manager. I am the one who is always order and lead. I don’t take suggestions from others because I think that my ideas are the best. None is comparable to mine. I also tend to take the personal credit for success while blaming other for failures.

As time goes by, something bothers me. I notices people treated me like never before. They start to isolate me, treat me negatively and don’t want to communicate with me. I was grief-stricken, unable to comprehend what is going on.

I had a colleague, Kaizer, he always seems to be give out a cheerful vibrancy. Every colleague likes him; I want to be more like him. I want my friends back.

Kaizer accepts for who I am, he guides me in becoming a better person. I learnt a lot from him.

Page 12: Psycho report

I changed my behaviors over time, people started to accept me. I am no longer the ego guy anymore. And hey, look there, my pretty colleague doesn’t ignore me anymore.

Today is a good day!
