Question 2- How effective is the combination of your main product and your ancillary texts?
Molly Niklas
Having the combination of my main product and supporting pieces (print advertisement and radio) has been extremely important as it effectively endorses the final piece and reiterates the messages that we are trying to educate the target audience with. As a group, are supported pieces were our print advertisement and our radio advert. I felt that both the print and radio provided the audience with great knowledge as to what the theme of our main documentary was going to be.
A CHANNEL 4 ADVERTISMENT
OUR ADVERTISMENT
As you can see, the print advertisement that we produced similar codes and conventions to the real channel 4 advertisement. Each of the adverts included a channel four logo mid right of the image. The central image was kept clear but understanding; both appearing as the most vibrant image on the advertisement. This gives the audience a clear idea of what they will be faced with when they watch the documentary. On the bottom left, there is a banner which includes the time and date of when the Documentary will be aired, both the advertisement and the radio advert had the same strap line ‘where fashion matters’; this anchors meaning as the audience then know that all three of the products tie together.

Our Documentary...
As you can see, our Documentary is keeping with the codes and conventions expected of within a Documentary. Keeping the subject of the interview to the far right or left of the Mise en scene is a convention of a Documentary. Throughout our documentary we did follow the typical codes and conventions. The title of our Documentary is ‘Supertylin’, we wanted to create a fun, light hearted title to suggest that this documentary wasn’t serious and formal. The use of the slang and non standard English shows that this Documentary is aimed at the younger generation as they are able to relate to the language.
