Looking Trendy
Ready for Work 2010
• Idea generation: IBJ & Previous Employment Brochure• 2010: 1st Innovative attempt (pilot stage)• Results – what worked:• Employers and students loved the idea! Both provided
feedback and hiring occurred• Giving Employers direct access to students
What did not work:• Timing seemed off (unveiled late Spring)
Reflected upon efforts for change• Collection/disbursement time change, GREEN idea!!!
Ready for Work 2011
• 2nd Pilot changes:• December – began collecting information from students• January – compiled content for final publication• February – started sending publication to employer contacts &
visiting career fair events
• Results – Differences:• Employers and students love the idea and effort!• Career services approached employers with information packets at
career fair event (on- and off-campus)• Employers received information during a heavier recruiting period
and ask for additional information for majors across campus
Moving Forward:
• Shared efforts with IUPUI Career Services Council members (14 schools)
• Future publications are being considered by the IUPUI Career Services Council to provide to employers at career events
• Sharing a best practice that works for employers and students
