Fill in all of the form, then click “Register.”
Logging into the UCEW Scheduler
Once you have created a new account, you will need to login using your full FAU email address and the password you just created.
Logging in from the UCEW website
If you already have a user account, you will be able to login directly from the UCEW website.
Go to http://www.fau.edu/UCEW (UCEW must be in all capital letters)
Input your full FAU email address ([email protected]) and the password you created, and click Log In.
Selecting Your Location
Once logged in, you can see the scheduler. Select your UCEW location in the upper-right of the
screen.
Booking Your In-Person Appointment
Consultant names appear on the left, and their available hours are to the right.
A white block indicates an available appointment. (NOTE: There must be a consultant’s name listed next to a line with white blocks for you to select an available time slot. Notice that Wednesday has no available appointments because no name appears next to the line.)
Booking Your In-Person Appointment (continued)
Once you have found an open time and click on the available white box, an appointment window will open.
You are required to indicate what you will be discussing during the appointment.
Click “Save.”
Recognizing Your Own Appointment
Your appointment will appear as a shaded dark blue block in the scheduler.
Notification of Time Slot Availability
If the day you want an appointment is totally full, you can have the schedule contact you immediately if a slot opens by clicking on the link designated below.
Fill out the popup box to be added to the waiting list.
What to Bring to Your In-Person Session
A copy of your assignment or task A current draft and disc Any relevant texts and/or articles If you are referred to the UCEW, bring the
draft with your instructor’s comments. Documentation can be provided to show that you have been in for a consultation.
Booking Online Appointments Online consulting sessions are different from face to face sessions in
several ways. Typically, when you are talking in person, you have your readings, paper, and assignment in a notebook ready to show the consultant. For the most effective online consulting sessions, you should have digital versions of these documents available for uploading at the beginning of the session.
The online consultation system relies on Adobe's Flash web browser plug-in. To avoid technical difficulties, please make sure you have the most up to date version of flash. To obtain the latest version, please direct your browser to this site: http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer.
As these sessions rely heavily on verbal communication, it is mandatory that you have a headset plugged in. If your headset is of the USB variety, ensure that it is plugged in and working properly. If your headset is of the standard type, please ensure that the microphone and headphone jacks are plugged into their proper locations. If you have a webcam, make sure to plug it in BEFORE you open your web browser.
Scheduling an OnlineAppointment with UCEW
To book an online session, login as you would normally.
You have two options for scheduling online appointments. You can select an appointment time with a consultant
with the designation “In person or online.” You can select an appointment with a consultant from the
“Online Only” schedule.
You must click this box to create an online appointment or leave it blank for a regular appointment.
Note, again, that you must have a computer microphone to conduct an online session.
Booking Your
Online Appointment
Booking an online appointment means you are meeting with your consultant over a computer connection.
Directions for Using the Online Interface
We have developed four short videos and a tri-fold brochure to help clients learn how to use the UCEW online interface. Please visit http://www.fau.edu/UCEW/online/online.php for more information.
The first time you have an online appointment, make sure you log on well before your session to practice using the interface and troubleshoot for problems.
Also, make this first appointment a 50 minute session.
Confirming Your UCEW Appointment
Once you have scheduled your appointment, you will receive an email confirmation of it.
This confirmation will be sent to your registered email address.
If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please do so as soon as possible so that another student can reserve that same block of time.
Modifying or Canceling Appointments
To modify or cancel an appointment, login and either click “My Control Panel” at the upper-left of the screen or the dark blue “My Reservations” block in the center of the page.
Select the appropriate option – either “Modify” or “Delete.” A new window will open.
You will receive an email confirmation of your appointment modification or deletion at your FAU email address.

Important Note About Scheduling Appointments
Please note that you must make or cancel your own appointments online. UCEW consultants will not make appointments or cancel them for you over the phone.
If you call one of our centers, please realize that there is not always someone available to answer the phone. Consultants will not stop a session to answer a call.
No Shows and Policies
Note also that if you do not show up for your appointment within ten minutes of your scheduled time, you will be marked as a No Show. After three No Shows in a term, you lose the privilege to reserve appointments for the remainder of the term.
We want to make your experience with the UCEW a positive one. Please make sure to read carefully all of our policies when you create your account. As long as you are aware of our policies, you will not be surprised, for example, to find out that we do not proofread papers for you and that you must cancel an appointment 30 minutes before your designated start time to avoid a No Show if you cannot attend.
You may find a list of all of our policies at http://www.fau.edu/UCEW/policies.php.
Thank You for Your Participation!
