Many elements to portray a traditional representation of women.

Beauty and nature commonly used to associate women traditionally.

•Piano music-soft music- traditional representation- contextually used in the Victorian era where women played the piano for entertainment.•Costumes and makeup- traditional rep- long dresses- completely covered up- traditional. •Camera shots- several close ups- express emotions- associated with women to present a traditional rep.

Location- old ruined house- long dresses with shin length brown boots- piano music- concludes the theme of Victorian based. This says that Birdy wants to portray a traditional representation of women.

Portrays a modern feminine quality as an independent women grows in confidence. Her growth displays the woman coming out of a traditional representation and into a modern representation.

When the performer is inside she is shown very small- this is shown through the frequent use of low camera angles- where the camera is above her, making her seem very vulnerable and weak.

•Camera angles- low to express her being small and vulnerable- traditional representation of women being the weaker gender.•Colours - are used to display the mood through her clothing-inside- tatty tshirts- modern rep- and dull colours of black and blue- outside- white and denim light blue.•lighting when inside the lighting is slightly dark- gloomy. Her build of confidence is depicted through two different locations. When we are shown shots of inside locations the performer is displayed as being trapped, however in the end when she performs outside she is shown as being free with drastic change in her body movements.

He costumes are long dresses- she is completely covered up, this shows further elements of a Victorian era theme within the music video. Her use of long dresses shows another example of a traditional representation of women.
