Poster Draft

For my detailed poster draft, I have decided to use a blank background that is effective to my genre so that the image and information stands out to the audience. This background is also conventional for horror as it connotes negativity and darkness/mystery. The fonts that I have chosen are conventional for my storyline, I found this out through my audience feedback, in which they said that it not only fit in with my plot but it was also generic to horror. The image that I have decided on will ensure that the film is promoted by there is not too much going on within the poster. It is also conventional as the image will be of our main character.

Comparison of my posterI have used an image that will be to one side of the poster to ensure that there is room for information. This will ensure that the audience are drawn in. The sinister poster have included

blood and something going on the other side of the poster, which is conventional to display some of the storyline. I will consider this and maybe to include some conventional props that are within my film. The sinister poster also uses a slogan beneath the title, another element in which is conventional to form and genre and I will consider. The use of white font makes it clear and standout to the background on the other

poster. This would work on my poster also instead of the white boxes. At the top of my poster there are actors that appear,I should also write about previous films created by the same company. Both posters include a billing block which is an element which is conventional to form. This includesinformation about the film.

Magazine draft

For my detailed magazine draft, I have decided to use a black background that is effective to most genres, which is conventional to the magazine company as they promote a variety of genres. This background will also ensure that the information will stand out to the audience. The fonts that I have chosen are again conventional for many genres, I found this out through my audience feedback. The image that I have decided on will be of the main character, close up to ensure that the audience are introduced to her early on. I have used white fonts as that they stand out, however, when it comes to creating the magazine I may rethink he house style.

Comparison of my magazineI have used an image that will be central to the magazine but will

also leave room for information about that film and others. This will ensure that the audience are drawn in to the film and are also introduced to the main character. The Empire magazine have included a close up of a main character, however, they have used many more cover lines, something that I need to consider when I create my final product as it is a conventional element to form I will ensure that my magazine is similar by making sure that there is not too much going on. I could do this by

using effective makeup for the character rather than using significant props that will draw attention away from the character. The Empire

magazine also uses a barcode which is conventional o form andI need to include in my product. The use of an effective house style makes it conventional to a variety of genres, whilst maintaining its professional appearance and being bold andstanding out. I need to think of a house style that would beconventional to my magazine. I also need to consider using a smaller image as part of my cover story.
