Environment of Presentation. I have got images of the computer an apple mac where I have produced my magazine and where my presentation will be shown from. I have also got an image of a slide changer, so that I don’t have to stand by the computer. Lastly, I have got a image of the interactive whiteboard where my presentation will be showed from.

Evidence of Pitch

On these 3 slides I have given evidence demonstrating that I have presented my pitch to my class, there is proof of this as when presented I was getting recorded on the camera as well as this while I was presenting the publisher was filling out my ‘witness statement’ form by doing this is gave me feedback on what I need to improve on and what went well in my presentation. As well as this some of the employees watching were able to ask me any questions as well.

Marketing and Advertising my magazine.

One way in which I am going to advertise my magazine is via the so-cial media I which is called ‘above the line advertising’ I am going to advertise my music magazine via social media-•Facebook.•Twitter.Benefits of Social media advertising-•Cheap.•Mass audience- therefore my magazine will become more popular.•Typically a quick response as everyone is online.•Communication and interaction with my target audience directly, therefore building a relationship with them therefore gathering more ideas for more magazines to come.I could advertise my magazine in other magazines, on YouTube (pre roll) or billboards or giving out leaflets although this way will cost a lot more money compared to making a twitter/facebook page which is free.

Conclusion.• In this learning outcome, I have displayed the materials and

sources I have used within my magazine pitch. This learning outcome also shows evidence of my witness statement which I was given from the publisher which contained what I did well in, and areas which I could improve on, and these were evident in the witness statement, as well my interview with my publisher.

• I also included evidence where I got my feedback from such as Survey Monkey.

Page 15: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Feedback of Pitch-Survey Monkey.• This is evidence, that after my picture I emailed the publisher,

as well as other employees who will also be working alongside me if the publisher decides he likes my magazine.

Page 16: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Feedback Of Pitch- Survey Monkey.

Here, I gained feedback by creating a survey monkey questionnaire by asking the publisher himself, and his employees a number of questions of on how my pitch went and how I could improve for future pitches to come. One of the questions I asked was which magazine they preferred out of my two idea, and most of them said they preferred my first idea ‘Simply Sound’

What I have gained from my magazine feedback is that over the two magazines I have created the employees and the publisher, said that they preferred my first magazine idea ‘Simply Sound’, some of the reasons were that they preferred the house colours, more and that they appealed more the female and male. As well as the bright yellow, standing out against the grey which made all my conventions on my magazine pop.

Page 17: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Feedback of Pitch-Survey Monkey

Here, I have asked the publisher, and his employees as to what they would rate my pitch out of 10, and 1 being bad. The majority of people said that my pitch was around a 7, as well as a few people giving it a 10.By them doing this it helps me to know what I need to improve on to get all 10s.

Page 18: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Feedback of Pitch-Survey Monkey Here I have asked the publisher, and his employees as to what were to strengths of my pitch most of them said I spoke clearly, which meant they understood the pitch. As well as they said I was dressed smart, and I presented my pitch well. By gaining feedback like this it helps me to understand that I need to include these strengths in future pitches to come.

Page 19: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Feedback of Pitch-Survey Monkey

Here, I have asked the publisher and his employees, as to which magazine they preferred out of my two ideas, all of them said they would consider buying my first idea ‘Simply Sound’ a lot of them said they preferred the house colours more. Gaining feedback like this allows me to know what I need to do, to improve my second idea, and possibly add more conventions into my first idea to make it even better.

Page 20: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Feedback of Pitch-Survey Monkey

Here, I have asked the publisher as well as his employees as to what I could do to improve on for future pitches, the publisher said to included a slide on the spending power, and how the price of my magazine will be affected by other competing magazines.

Improvement made!

Page 21: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Feedback of Pitch- Interview.• Ways in which I gained feed back for my pitch which was by having an interview with the

publisher, where I asked my publisher questions on what went well and where I could improve. There was proof of this by as I was interviewing photos were being taken.

Here are the questions I asked my publisher:1. Did you think I present my pitch well? And what did you think was the best part of my pitch?2. Did you feel that I had a good mixture of using my script and talking directly to the audience?

and if not what I could I do better.3. Did you think my Front cover and DPS, looked professional enough to buy it? And if not what

could I add to improve it.4. Did I cover aspect of the my topic?5. Did I manage and explain the financial aspect well, and was it easy to understand the overall cost

to produce my magazine?6. Is there anything I didn’t include? Or was there a particular area of my presentation I could

improve?7. Do you have any tips for me to use in future presentations to come?

Page 22: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Calendar Events.• My magazine will be published on 1st November.• Within my magazine, I have include gossip. Festival dates which are 22nd July, 23rd July

24th July at V festival.• Upcoming magazines and future magazines will be released on the 1st of each month.• There will be a puff promotion on the front cover of my magazine which will be

advertising to my readers that they will have a chance to win festival tickets. The reason why I have decided to include a puff promotion which allows you to win something, would persuade my target audience especially because they are young, to read my magazine.

Page 23: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Pitch Improvements.

Here I have improved my pitch by including, the spending power. Here I have talked about the price of my magazine, how the price of my magazine will be different to other magazines, how it will compete. As well as how much money I will be making in an estimated year.

Another weakness I was given when pitching was to make sure that I put in any of my profits in green, to show that this is a positive thing. As well as putting the total costs in red, as this is what I will be loosing it order, to create my magazine.I was also given feedback, such as to not use my

script as much and try not to rely on that. A way in which I have improved is by practising talking, in front of some of my employees, without having any script to hand, therefore this gets me use to having to make more eye contact with the people I am pitching to, as well as makes the people focus more on what I am talking about rather than them focusing on the paper I am holding in my hand.

Page 24: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Pitch Improvements Continued.

Here is my corrections that I was given back, for my Photoshop work. For my front cover I was told that I needed to move all the conventions of my magazine to the left, like my titles ect.I was also told that I should add a festival logo onto my puff promotion. I have also worked on my corrections by changing my promotional banners language, I decided to change it from “Greatest” to “First” as I am releasing my first issue.

Page 25: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Pitch Improvements completed.

Here you can see that I have improved one of my pitch improvements which was to work on/change my front cover. Here you can see that I have improve on my front cover from left to right. I have worked on it and change the background in order for my main image to stand out, I have also worked on changing the text so that it looks more like my magazine of inspiration. I have also perfected my image by just having a single image, I have also changed the shot type from a ‘medium shot’ to a ‘close up'. As well as this to make the image look professional I have worked on blending the edges of my image better, and change the saturation, and brightness of the image.

Before After

Page 26: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Pitch Improvements Continued.

Secondly, you can also see here I have worked on my DPS, I decided to change my image to the single person, as well as working on the image quality itself, instead of using an IPhone, like I used for my first image I used a camera. I decided to keep the brick wall background, like I used for the first image as I thought that it fitted well with my genre of music. I have also decided to change the background colour where my interview is, as I felt the yellow was too distracting, so to in sure I am sticking with my colour scheme, I decided to add yellow in with my ‘pull quote’ and ‘main headline’.

Feedback I was given via my “witness statement”

Risk Assessment-Software Risk Assessment.Software Risk Assessment-• When creating my magazine cover and DPS I made

sure that when I choice my image, I held down shift the reason for doing this is so that when I went to resize I held shift so that my image didn’t pixilate and loose its image quality. As well I also made sure that when I began to edit my magazine cover and include text for the front cover and DPS I used the ruler tool I did this so that my text didn’t over lap any of my images, I also used the ruler tool to make sure that my text was all in line, and straight.

• As well when I was picking what house colours I wanted, I made sure that they were consistent throughout my whole magazine to insure that people would recognise my magazine more if they were to see it in a shop. I did this by using the ‘eye dropper’ tool, this allows me to click on a part of my magazine which I have already coloured, so that I can use it to colour another part of my magazine, this also allows me to use it so that I get the exact same colour.

Page 32: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Risk Assessment-Image Risk Assessment.• Before taking my images I had to make sure that any of the people I was

going to take a picture of was happy to be photographed. I asked each of my models individually if they were happy to be photographed, and if they were happy to be put onto my magazine as all of them said yes that I had their permission to do so.As well I emailed all the people I would be taking a photo off to ask for their permission as well and to copy over their signature onto the email if I had their permission.

Evidence of an email I have sent.

Risk Assessment- Consent Form.

Here is a screenshot of the consent form I have made, and given to my client who I will be taking pictures of, he has ticked the boxes which best apply to him while also signing it, dating it and giving me his place of work or education.

Legal and Ethical Issues.Intellectual property- Is Having the right type of intellectual property protection helps you to stop people stealing or copying. This applies to my magazine as I will be able to stop anyone from trying to steal any of my information images etc., and say it is their own, so this is really important I have this can it protects all my information and other properties of mine. As well this also applies to other people who have the right to protect their property. This would link to my magazine as if someone wanted to use my magazine they would need my permission to do so. Or I would need a companies permission to use their logo in my magazine.Copyright Issues-Copyright is a form of protection given to the authors or creators of "original works of authorship," including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic and other intellectual works opyright is massively important when it comes to producing my music magazine, as the editors and producers of my magazine would have to insure that they are aren't using any images without the persons permission, or this could be seen as breaking the laws of copyright. If we were to use an image that is owned by some else we are able to get in contact with the person who owns the image and ask them if we are able to use their image.Data Protection Act- Making sure I project my content with my magazine if really important, I will do this by using ‘data protection act’ this protects any personal information and any personal information kept within my publishing company. An example of this is that it need to be used correctly, fairly, this also means that they keep protected employees beliefs, opinions and any criminal records. This is important that we keep this safe because someone's personal life could affect the company and each worker should have privacy when it comes within work life and home life.

Page 38: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Intellectual Property

A watermark is a form of intellectual property copyright, this can be found on, online and in written work ect. It can be shown by using a faint design of the copyright logo or, the name of the company who the image as created by. It is important that this is done so that none can use your image without permission. Also, if someone uses your image without permission you will know as the company's logo is hard to get rid of as the name of the company when on the picture is typically layered over the top of the image.I think in my case as my magazine will be featuring a lot of images, it is important that I protect my images, this is because images are easier to use over written work because of “copy and paste”.

Page 39: Serena Keogh- Unit 13- LO4 & LO5

Conclusion • In this learning outcome I have looked into all my feedback, which I received via

Survey Monkey, my Witness Statements, and my verbal interview with my publisher.

• Some of the things I got back in my feedback area, was that I shouldn’t focus on my script as much, and try and not read of the script as much. Survey monkey also gave me feedback, saying that they liked my magazine front cover. I also got verbal feedback saying from my publisher that I included a lot of detail when it comes to my over all costs, and also structure all my outgoing and income costs well, which made it clear for the publisher.

• Additionally, I think that I should also include a lot of detail on the legal issue and ethical issues, on my magazine.
