Short Film Treatment For my A2 Media coursework I will be constructing a Short film, 5 minutes in length. It is intended for teenager, mainly for the male audience. The purpose of the film is just to be an entertainment piece that my audience can just sit down for 5 minutes and forget about what they need to do for the day or have done during the day. I choose the genre of action as it a particle favourite kind of genre to mine so I know I would put my heart into the project, trying to make it the best I can. This is why I didn't follow my target research as I knew the product would be popular with people in school, I would not be full invested in the product, which could result in a poor product.

The whole film will be taken on by me. I will be taking the role of writer, camera man, editor and director. The whole film will also only be filmed using a single camera set up, as I only have one camera at my disposal to use. Also as I have to film everything it would be impossible for me to control a multi-camera set up.

Plot summary:

The film is about getting rid of your demons to become something better. The film starts off with a news report on the 10 o’clock. The news reporter is telling the city about an incident that happened 10 hours ago, which is the rest of the plot for the film. Then it cuts to Jason Ryan chasing Lewis through a field towards a wood located a couple of miles outside the city. When Lewis goes into the wood, Jason calls Ollie for backup and information. The two have a very brief conversation as Jason can't lose Lewis. Then he enters the forest were Lewis is searching desperately for Jason. Jason jumps up behind Lewis and shots him. Jason then tries to call Ollie but can't get through. Suddenly

Alex walks out and the two begin a conversation. Alex revels himself to be Jason’s wife’s killer, the man Jason had hunted for the past 6 months. The conversation results in a fist and knife fight. The fight ends with Jason shooting Alex in the head with a gun which he has hidden in his boot.

Field Wood Hideout Newsroom

For the newsroom and Hideout I will be using the drama studio at school to create these locations, I will have to pre-book these room beforehand. Then for the field and wood I will be using the fields behind the back of my house, as it will be free and easy to access. The field also offers an easy transition between locations which is important to the film.

Cost:

The film will be low budget and self-funded, all the equipment is provided by me, which I have gathered over the year. The only cost will be on props and costume. The film will take a month to create which will included filming and editing as writing was completed during the summer holidays. This time frame gives me around two weeks for both component. 2 weeks for filming and 2 weeks for editing.

Logline:

The New Beginning is a character driven action film about an Ex-cop turned vigilante who finally comes face to face with his inner demon. Starring Alex Rowe and Billy Gaines.
