UATTopic Paper and Project Plan
SIP Objective
I am proposing to create a mouse that is more intuitive in a 3D environment. This could really cut the learning curve for newer 3D users and give the veterans more efficiency and output
when working in a three dimensional environment.
Sprint Objective
My sprint objective is to create the placement for a device (tracking-node) floating on top of a sphere that emulates three dimensional movement within 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) programs beyond the current capabilities of other input devices
Updated Progress
The most efficient and comfortable location for the tracking-node is on the left hand side of the mouse where the thumb rests
The human thumb has enough force to easily push and pull a node across a smooth spherical surface but is also has the control necessary
Current Feelings
The placement of the node I feel is the optimal for the application, because the thumb sits idle and would be perfect for an extra axis of movement
What Went Well :)
The brainstorming and initial design went very quickly
Blueprint and concept came out exceptional
What Didnt Go So Well :(
Finding space on the mouse that both functions and is efficient was a challenge
There isnt much real estate on a mouse
Creative Ideas
Designing a mouse that would accent the tracking node and help make it more comfortable to use
Improved Time Management
Keeping a better journal of logged tasks and times
Organization of files and project folders
