ABOUT FOODAn extra place at table
or know each other through food
The small amounts of food that are served in the pubs for going
with the drink are popular known as “tapas”
The “tapas” become an important part of the Spanish gastronomy.
There is someone who claims that the origin of the “tapas” came due
to the following legend in the 19th century:
Alfonso XIII went on a trip at Andalucian lands…
He was tired by the journey; he entered in a tavern in a village in Cadiz for drinking a cup of
wine
When he was being served his cup, a wind blew by the window that
dragged something of dust and sand of the beach
Quickly a waiter covered the cup of the king with a slice of ham in order not to
enter either dust or sand into the cup of wine
The king took the slice, shook it off and ate it before drinking his wine. In this moment, all asked for a cup, but also with “tapa” and this
term is popularized until our days.
The “tapas” can be cold or hot.
Going to “tapas” is a custom extended by all the
Spanish country.
