The Basics - Attendance How much time should I spend each day?

About 6 hours a week for ½ unit class

12 hours a week for a 1 unit (block) course

What if I am sick or have an emergency?

Teachers, facilitators, and parents can keep up with your attendance in class through the “User Progress” feature.  It

tracks the days and times you log in, as well as which sections you are working on and when you are working on them.

Assignments and Make Up Work

How will I know what my assignments are? Assignment schedule on home page  Due each day No extensions after exam date

Can I work ahead of the course schedule?

Yes!

What about make up work? Zero entered when work overdue 25% deducted when 1 day late 50% deducted when 2 days late Day 3 – zero becomes permanent

Testing How does testing work online?

Tests taken online – timed

Use Quizzes link to access tests

What about final exams?

Performance part – 5%

Multiple choice part or an End-of-Course-Test (EOCT) – 15%

Proctor may be required by your district

•Check your regular and gavs email daily!

•GAVS email for class work and teacher contact ([email protected]).

•Identify yourself within all emails (first and last name – course). 

•Emails should have the subject line filled in with the appropriate topic. 

•Respond to instructor emails/pages within 24 hours.

Code of Conduct

The following are examples of some, but not all, acts of dishonest behavior:

1. Plagiarism2. Cheating 3. Submitting work through the use of another person's

password/login 4. Performing work or taking an examination for another

student 5. Falsification and/or misrepresentation of data 6. Computer crimes7. Improper use of the Pager or email

Academic Dishonesty

Academic dishonesty will result in one or more of the following actions:

Loss of grade points Removal from the course Failure to receive credit for the course Loss of eligibility to take future Georgia

Virtual School Program courses

Tips for Successful Completion

Keep up with your due dates. Keep in frequent contact with your instructor. Notify your instructor early if you are having

problems or if you have questions. Work ahead if you know you are going to be away

from your computer for more than a day. Make sure you have a back-up computer in case

you experience problems. Then, make sure you have a back-up to your back-up.

Withdrawing from Class1. Contact your facilitator ASAP! The facilitator

must put in a registration helpdesk ticket to request your official withdrawal

2. Refunds less $25 if withdrawn within 72 hours of starting or end of day Jan 25th whichever comes first. FTE students have 10 days from starting, or Jan 25th.

3. If your parent needs to discuss your withdrawal, please have him or her contact the Guidance Department at: [email protected].
