Supply Chain Simulation in 6 Easy Steps
SCM GLOBE
leverages Google Maps and enables you to model and simulate real supply chains or design new ones. Here is the supply chain of a real company that makes furniture in Indonesia and sells to customers around the world.

Entities Create Simple, Accurate Models
• Define different combinations of products, facilities, vehicles and routes• Place them on a map to create accurate supply chain models

STEP 1. Define the Products
Start by defining PRODUCTS in the supply chain –
both finished goods and raw materials. Enter name, volume, weight and cost information.

STEP 2. Define the Facilities
Define the FACILITIES in the supply chain –
factories, warehouses, stores etc. –
places where products are made, stored or sold. Enter operating costs, production rates, daily demand and on-hand inventory [zoom in, switch to satellite view and see actual facilities].

STEP 3. Define the Vehicles and Routes
Then define the VEHICLES and ROUTES used to move products from one facility to another in order to meet demand. Specify delivery schedules and products dropped off and picked up.

STEP 4. Simulate Supply Chain Performance
Run simulations of the supply chain and see how it performs. Get
day-by-day data displays showing on-hand inventory, operating costs and transportation costs for each facility in the supply chain.

STEP 5. Find and Fix Points of Failure
Simulations show where and when the supply chain will fail and provide you with information needed to fix those problems. Keep improving the design and simulating the results until the supply chain meets desired performance level.

STEP 6. See Total Supply Chain Performance
See the big picture –
understand how all the different supply chain entities work together. Explore new designs to improve performance and manage risk as situations change. Download your simulation data for further analysis as needed.
