1. Telling one’s telephone number

123 の 456 の 7890 です

The particle “ の ” is usually placed in between the area code, the local exchange code and the last four digits. Therefore, the number 123-456-7890 is いち に さん の よん ご ろく の なな はち きゅう ゼロ.

2. Asking one’s telephone number

If you don’t know a person’s phone number and you’d like to find it out, you

can ask it with a question word “なんばん”. “なんばん” means “What number”

in Japanese and you just place this question word where “?” is placed in

above sentence, then add “か” to make the sentence a question.
