Spring 2015 Japanese Society II: Contemporary Japan Spring 2015 Term Report Guidelines Due: Monday 11 th May Submit: in class , or to [email protected] (any queries to this address also) Software: Word (or equivalent) – not as a pdf, and not in the body of the email Length: 2500 words (minimum) Font: Times New Roman, 11 font Spacing: 1.5 spacing Margins: about one-inch margins There are three types of report: a summary report (summarize 3+ articles about ONE topic), a research report (answer your own research question(s) by reading at least three articles or book chapters on one topic), and a book summary. These are organized differently: (the following are suggested templates only) A. summary report: this is straightforward – introduction article 1 summary and your reflections article 2 summary and your reflections article 3 summary and your reflections synthesis - bringing the three articles together conclusion references B. research report: this depends on the topic and research questions – introduction (with the question(s) that you would like to explore) background to the topic information about question one information about question two discussion conclusion references C. book summary: this is also relatively straightforward – introduction background to the topic summary of the main sections of the book reflections and comments about the topic and the book conclusion references Note: references should be consistently one system (APA or MLA) https://owl.english.purdue.edu Note: all books must be returned in class on Monday 11 th May
