The Fearful Chicken

Once upon a time there was a fearful chicken…

She was so fearful that she was afraid of her own shadow ...

. One day, the chicken began scratching at the ground, to see if she could find a worm to eat when…

… The day began to warm and the chicken, that didn´t want to sunbath her head, leaned against a wall.

As soon as she had been leaning by the wall, a bit of lime left the white wall and fell upon the chicken´s head.

The chicken was very scared and she began to run.    A rooster seeing the chicken running, asked her:

-Why do you run so fast, cousin chicken?-The sky is falling down. A little piece has fallen on my head!

-What a disgrace, a disgrace, said the rooster.

And he began to run after the chicken.

A pig, who was picking acorns, seeing the chicken and the rooster running so fast, asked them:

-Why are you running so quickly?

The chicken said,-The sky is falling down. One little piece has fallen on my head.-What a disgrace, a disgrace! - Said the pig

And he began to run after the chicken and the rooster.

A cat that walked to hunt rats, seeing the chicken, the rooster and the pig said to them:

Why do you run away so fast?

-The sky is falling to pieces. A little piece has fallen in my head!

-What a disgrace, a disgrace, said the catAnd he began to run after the chicken

and the cock.

A duck that was out of the lake, seeing the chicken, the rooster, the pig and the cat said to them:

Why are you runnig away so fast?

-The sky is falling to pieces. A little piece has fallen in my head!-What a disgrace, a disgrace, said the catAnd he began to run after the chicken, the rooster, the pig and the cat .

A fox, who was resting in her den, when she saw the chicken, the rooster, the pig, the cat and the duck, asked them:

- Why do you run away so fast?

The chicken said:-The sky is falling down. A little piece has fallen in my head!-What a disgrace, a disgrace, said the foxAnd she began to run after the chicken, the rooster, the pig, the cat and the duck.

A goat that was grazing in the meadow,seeing the chicken, rooster, pig, cat,the duck and the fox, he asked them:-Why are you running so fast?

The chicken said,-The sky is falling down. One little piece has fallen on my head.-What a disgrace, a disgrace! - Said the goatAnd he began to run after the chicken, the rooster, the pig, the cat, the duck and the fox..

A sheep that was lying in the shadea tree, seeing the chicken, the rooster, the pig ,the duck, the fox and the goat,asked them:Why are you running so fast?

The chicken said,-The sky is falling down. One little piece has fallen on my head.-What a disgrace, a disgrace! - Said the sheepand she began to run after the chicken, the rooster, the pig, the cat, the duck, the fox and the goat.

A dog that was lying at the door looking atthe moon, seeing the chicken, the rooster, the pig, the cat, the duck, the fox, the goat and the sheep, asked them:Why are you running so fast?

The chicken said,-The sky is falling down. One little piece has fallen on my head.

And the dog asked:Who saw the sky falling down?

-Not me!Said the sheep.-The chicken told me…

-Not me!Said the fox.-The chicken told me…

- Not me!Said the duck.-The chicken told me.

-Not me!Said the cat.The chicken told me…

- Not me!Said the pig.The chicken told me

- Not me!Said the rooster.-The chicken told me!

-I saw it! –said the chicken

-The chicken told me!

-Not me! – Said the goat.

So the dog said:-Stop this rush and come under my mistress´s bed, until we can see what is going to happen!

So, the chicken,the rooster, the pig, the cat, the duck, the fox, thegoat, the sheep and the dog whent under the old woman´s bedAnd stayed still waiting to see what will happen…And fall a sleep.

In the meadle of the nigth, the old woman moved,the bed creaked, and the animals scared themselfs. Afraid that the sky would fall topieces, were greatly agitated.

The chicken clucked …

The rooster sang ….

The pig snored.

The cat said meow…

The duck quacked …

The fox make her noise…

The goat yelled…

The sheep bleated…

The dog barked …

And the old woman, who wake upwith all that noise, got out of bedand shouted:- All of you, out of there!

The hen, the rooster, the pig, the cat, the duck ,the fox, the goat, the sheep and the dog, came out from under the bed,  

…And now?

And when they reached the street and looked to the sky, saw that nothing had happened ...

And now?...
