Introduction• Kaplan Inc. chief marketing officer Beth Hirschhorn

earned her MBA and serves as an adjunct professor at New York University (NYU) Leonard N. Stern School of Business. Beth Hirschhorn’s alma mater through its NYU Stern Access Initiative has been increasing the number of full-need scholarships to undergraduate students who are high achieving but come from low-income backgrounds.

The number of full time scholarships at NYU Stern increased from zero to 34 in the span of just two years.

NYU Stern Access Initiative• The school is aiming to have over 50 undergraduate

students enrolled free-of-charge starting with the academic year 2018-19. As Dean of NYU Stern Peter Henry elaborated, removing the financial obstacle for deserving and talented students will improve the student community and have a positive chain reaction that will benefit NYU and the wider business community.

From its supporters NYU Stern has so far raised over $100 million as part of NYU’s “Momentum Campaign” which has raised over $500 million in total. The goal is to raise $1 billion solely for scholarship aid.
