2. The people of Israel had no king 3. But they had Judges 4. And the Judges would settle any arguments between people 5. But the people were tired of judges and wanted a king instead. 6. So they asked the prophet Samuel to ask God for a king. 7. A farmer named Saul was looking for his missing donkeys which escaped their barn 8. Saul went to find the prophet Samuel to ask where his donkeys might be. 9. Samuel told Saul that God had chosen him to be the first King of Israel 10. Saul just wanted to find his missing donkeys. Samuel told him to walk down the road. 11. On the way he met a man 12. The man told him where to find his missing donkeys 13. Then he met three men. 14. One with 3 goats, one with 3 loaves of bread, and one with a bottle of wine. 15. Then he met a bunch of prophets 16. And Saul danced with the prophets 17. And Samuel found Saul and anointed him king over Israel 18. But when the time came to present Saul to the people. 19. Saul didnt want to be king, so he went and hid. 20. But Samuel found Saul and anointed him king in front of all the people. 21. And Saul was made the king in front of everyone. 22. Years passed, and it turned out that the country of Israel had some enemies 23. The Philistines were camped out along the border with Israel 24. Saul was told by Samuel to just wait 7 days and Samuel would come 25. And then Samuel would come and make an offering to the Lord. 26. But Saul got tired of waiting and decided to do it himself. 27. Suddenly Samuel appeared and asked what Saul was doing! 28. Why couldnt you wait for God? 29. After this God sent Samuel to the house of Jesse. 30. Samuel was to choose a new king from Jesses sons. 31. But as Samuel looked at each one, he didnt feel Gods spirit. 32. He asked Jesse if he had any more sons? 33. Jesse said he had a younger son, David 34. David was a shepherd. 35. David takes care of the sheep all day. 36. So they waited until David came back from watching the sheep. 37. And then Samuel anointed him as Gods next chosen king in front of his brothers. 38. The Philistines came back though. And Davids older brothers went to be in the army. 39. Jesse asked David to take his brothers some food and supplies 40. When David arrived he found the two armies facing one another. 41. But now the Philistines had a champion Goliath. They were daring anyone to come fight their giant. 42. But everyone in Sauls army was too scared to go fight him. 43. But David went up and told King Saul that he would fight Goliath. 44. Watching the sheep I have to fight off wild animals. 45. I have killed a lion and a wolf with my slingshot 46. So King Saul insisted that David wear his armour. 47. But it was too big for him. 48. So David went out against Goliath with just a sling. 49. David told Goliath that Israel had God with them 50. And David killed Goliath, and the Israelites won. 51. David became a hero. He went to live in the palace, and eventually married the Princess Michal. 52. Sometimes, to sooth the king, David would play his harp. 53. But this time King Saul was jealous and angry 54. King Saul threw a spear at David. 55. Fortunately it missed. And David went back home. 56. The soldiers came to Davids house looking for him. 57. Michal told them that David was asleep. 58. But she had wrapped up blankets to look like someone was sleeping in the bed. 59. And David escaped from the soldiers out the back. 60. From that point on, David was on the run from King Saul. 61. And one day David and his men were hiding in a cave when King Saul came into the same cave to rest. 62. King Saul didnt know David and his men were hiding in the same cave. 63. And David found King Saul asleep in the cave. And he cut off a piece of his robe to prove he had been there. 64. And David called out to King Saul as he left the cave and showed the cloak. 65. Then Saul let David know that he wouldnt hunt him any longer. 66. Saul promised David that he wouldnt try and hurt him again. 67.
