Abstract
In many social work agencies around the world, the common practice is to incorporate the case work
model as far as supervision is concerned (Beddoe, L., & Maidment, J., 2009). For the purpose of
understanding as to whether or not this model is the best suited for social work supervision and should be
continued in the future as a primary model, there needs to be an analysis of the implications of the stated
model of supervision. In consideration of the same, it needs to be highlighted that in this particular case,
the organization in question is a social service agency. Subsequently, analysis is focused on evaluation of
the model with respect to social service agencies.
A social service agency is regarded to be an individual and independent organization or
association of social work service providers, who work in the community on behalf of governments,
institutions, non-profit organizations and, sometimes, on behalf of other social work agencies as well
(Santhiveeran, 2009). As a result of which, the nature of social work that is entrusted upon the agencies
will vary and so will the requirements of the services to be provided to clients. This automatically implies
that social workers need to be abreast of different techniques and principles of provision of quality
services to clients. Social workers are, in such cases allocated individual job responsibilities and the
supervisors are provided individual monitoring and evaluation benchmarks.
