If we chose this song to do our music video song on then due to knowing the video quite well we would be in danger of copying it. The narrative of the song is fairly self-explanatory with a clear direction to go in. However this isn’t what you want went trying to create an original and creative new video idea.

The song has a strong beat and rhythm that would create good pacing in our video if edited properly. This would cause it to seem exciting and engaging and create opportunities for effective and interesting editing.

This is a great song with meaningful and deep lyrics, however it isn’t particularly well-known which means people would watch our video without prior judgements or images of how it should be in their heads. It also isn’t a particularly big powerhouse song that would usually be accompanied with a huge and dramatic video that would be hard to create as amateur creators with limited resources.

Something that we didn’t like so much about this song is that there isn’t a large difference between the sound of the verses and the chorus. When there is a big discrepancy between these different parts of the song then you can play around with the different performance and narrative elements but we would be slightly limited if we went with this song.

Cher Lloyd-Sirens

This song has a very obvious and strong beat that would be great to edit to and set an upbeat and fast-moving pace. This beat continues throughout the whole song and provides a great backing track for a video.

We also like the modern and pop vibe this song features. It has a distinctly youthful and upbeat sound that would appeal to a teenage, feminine target audience which is who we would probably want to target our video at due to being able to relate and understand this demographic.

The song has varying tempos which create a good range of light and shade in the video, separating it into sections where we could use varying different narrative shots.

A drawback to using this song is that we found the lyrics quite dull and uninspiring with a lack of scope to create an original and creative music video idea.

Another negative to choosing this song is that the lyrics are mainly focused on other people and not a narrative story of the artist themselves. This would mean that we would have to involve lots of other people to act in our video which just causes more unnecessary stress and organisation.

Daya-Hide Away

One of the main problems with choosing this song is that it is so well known and popular. This means that when watching our video, our audience will already have a prior image and judgement of how they think the song should be represented and shown. We would also be in danger of imitating similar aspects to the original video as it is so well known and symbolic to the song.

This songs lyrics provide a great backstory and material to create a moving and creative video. Despite it being such a well-known video, the lyrics are still quite soft and not overwhelmingly powerful. This means we could still use this song to create an amateur, indie video without it seeming odd and out of sorts.

This song also has a strong beat and pace to it that would lend itself favorably to creating an engaging and upbeat video. This is crucial when creating a video as, when done at an amateur level like we will be doing, a slow song can often come off as boring and un-creative with not a lot going on. It can also be harder to edit footage to the music if there isn’t a distinct and good beat to a song.

When listening to this, despite it being a great song , we weren’t particularly struck with any video or story ideas which we did have when listening to others. It is also slightly slower paced and gentler than we are looking for as we would like to create a more powerful and effective video which we feel like this song isn’t the best fit for.

This song has very strong and powerful lyrics that tell an emotive and inspiring narrative which would be great in creating an effective and poignant video.

This song has a distinct and strong beat to it which would provide a good guide to the editing and transition between different sections of footage. This would make it easier for us, as well as engaging and interesting to watch as it will maintain your focus and attention.

The songs’ lyrics are great for creating an interesting and diverse video as they involve a range of different emotions which could be tied in with different narrative elements. For example, at the beginning, it is a rather somber and morose mood but throughout the song the artist builds strength till she’s happy and fierce at the end. This provides us with the material to create different sections of the video which explore a range of emotions and tells a distinct and clear story.

The only issue we find with this song is that the lyrics are telling a quite obvious narrative which could be a problem by us having the danger of copying or having aspects of our video which are very similar to the original. This could be an issue but we would try our best to create an original and separate video.

Another good aspect of this song is that, despite being familiar to people due to being used previously in TV adverts, it isn’t particularly well-known so we have a blank slate to use where no one watches it with prior judgements of how it should be.
