Kerrang! Is aimed at an audience that listen to more destructive music such as hardcore, heavy metal, rock and screamo.

The word Kerrang! comes from the noise made when you play a power chord on a guitar.

The text is very suitable because its bold, all in capitals and the way the text has parts of it missing and looks as if it’s broken appeals to the audience.

Q is aimed at a more mature audience of music lovers who can appreciate any kind of music.

Q was originally named Cue as in cueing a record.

The text is simple and to the point, containing red as the background which is Q’s main house colour. It’s serif which gives it a sense of elegance and maturity which is perfect for the target audience.

Smash hits! Is aimed at a younger audience of pop music lovers.

The text is almost like bubble writing and seems really young which fits the audience. Also, one of the words is in pink which is one of the house colours and suits this magazine.

Page 5: Typography

MOJO is aimed at an older audience of people who appreciate classic rock music and frequently cover iconic bands such as The Beatles and Bob Dylan.

The masthead has created such a brand identity that a lot of the time they overlap it with text and pictures. It’s a simple text and looks very modern.
