When you make an inference, you use all available information (clues, context, imagery, prior knowledge, title, etc.) to discover questions, mysteries, or information not said directly by the author.

A prediction is using what you have already seen and read to anticipate, or make an educated guess, about what will happen next.

You can make predictions before you start reading.
