Most Schools and Colleges are divided into different departments. Undergraduates may have two academic advisors: 1 ) College Advisers and 2) Major Advisors.

When and why would I go to my academic advisor?

In some Colleges, such as Engineering, Environmental Design, and Haas School of Business, you will have only one academic advisor located in the College’s Student Services Unit.

UC and Berkeley Campus Graduation Requirements

American History & American Institutions (AH&I)This can be waived if you have at least 90.5 semester units (senior status) and hold both a current, non-immigrant visa, and an I-94 departure record. You must present your visa and I-94 record to the Office of the Registrar, during the semester in which you will graduate.

American Cultures (AC)•Usually not completed with transfer work. Come see an adviser in L&S if you have questions.

College of Letters and Science Requirements(Satisfied with IGETC certification or UC Reciprocity)

• Essential Skills• Seven-Course Breadth

Unit Requirements:

120 unit minimum 36 upper div. units, of which… 6 must be outside of major dept.Unit maximum: 4 semesters or 130 units (single major) 5 semesters or 136 units (double majors)

Senior Residency(After completing 90 units, 24 of your last 30 units must be taken in residence at Cal)

P/NP limit Maximum 1/3 of total UC Berkeley units
