What is Micro Technique?

• Micro-scale and small-scale laboratory experiments are simply experiments that use much smaller amount of chemicals and smaller equipments.

Page 3: Vibs Technique2

What is Macro Technique?

• It is the conventional system of experiment where we use large quantities of chemicals for experiments.

Page 4: Vibs Technique2

From Macro to Microlaboratory

Micro-scale experiments use much smaller amount of chemicals and smaller equipments.

They have become very popular in chemistry , not only because they reduce the cost of chemicals and reduce the waste disposal problems, but also because they reduce the risks present in the traditional laboratories .

Page 5: Vibs Technique2

Draw backs of Macro Technique

• Breakable apparatus

• Pollution creating• Costly equipments• Unsafe for

students • Lack of

individuality during experimentation

IT IS COST SAVING

• apparatus size is small.apparatus size is small.

• cost of micro apparatus cost of micro apparatus is lesser than cost of is lesser than cost of macro apparatus.macro apparatus.

• small apparatus are small apparatus are safer than big ones.safer than big ones.

MORE ECOLOGICALLY SOUND

• small amount of chemicals is used small amount of chemicals is used so there is less wastage and more so there is less wastage and more safety for students as well as for safety for students as well as for the atmosphere.the atmosphere.

Page 9: Vibs Technique2

SUITABLE FOR ORGANIC AND INORGANIC EXPERIMENTS

• Faster processes, therefore more suitable for organic experiments.

• Setups are easily built by the students therefore, more independence.

• Experimentation can be possible.

Page 10: Vibs Technique2

MICRO LAB IS VERY SIMPLE

• Even a fume cupboard is no longer required for most of the experiments.

• A wall plug is all that is necessary.

• No water hoses or cooling required and no use of natural gas.

Towards Micro technique

Page 12: Vibs Technique2

During summer vacations NCERT offered an orientation programme demonstrating usefulness of micro kit developed by it .With the keen interest shown by our principal Mrs. P. Datta and by the consent of NCERT, our chemistry department was able to buy the micro scale kit from NCERT and thus, establishing eco-friendly Micro lab.

IN A NUTSHELL…

• to make chemistry lab eco-friendly the use of chemicals should be minimized because a lot of pollution takes place which affects not only atmosphere but it also contaminates water .
