Part 1: Introduction
Congratulations!
You have just opened the application booklet for the congress committee for WENA LDS 2013 in The
Netherlands!
After many years AIESEC in The Netherlands is finally hosting an international conference again and YOU
can be part of it! You will have the amazing opportunity to extend your AIESEC experience and organize
this challenging project.
Have you ever wondered at NatCo or an international conference what it would be like to be part of the
organization? To be responsible for all logistics, external relations, events and much more? Take the

Part 2: Information about the WENA LDS
What is WENA LDS?
WENA LDS is an official international conference for the Western Europe and Northern America region.
This conference is hosted annually in spring by one of the WENA countries. The target group for the
conference is mainly LC VPs (EBers) and members. The goal is to provide AIESEC members with
knowledge on the international direction of AIESEC and make the translation on how to use this
knowledge in your own country, as well as providing you with tools to boost your performance on a
local level.
For the past years WENA LDS has been organized by countries as Malta, United Kindom and Austria.
Now, after six years, The Netherlands has the honor of organizing an international conference again.
WENA LDS is organized by a CC, a congress committee. They are responsible for everything of the
conference expect for the content. The content will be delivered by international faci’s under
responsibility of AIESEC International.

Part 3: Information on the congress committee
The congress committee has the responsibility to organize the entire conference. This entails numerous
responsibilities such as organizing events, arranging logistics, communicating with delegates, sell
products to generate revenues and much more.
There are four main areas for which you can apply which are stated below. You can apply either for
president or for one of the areas. When you are applying for a certain area you can give a preference for
team leader or team member. During your interview you will receive more information on the exact
structure of the CC. You will spend significant time on your function but there will also be common CC
responsibilities and you will need to assist in others functions as well.

Congress Committee President
As congress committee president you will be final responsible for the success of WENA LDS. You will be
coaching the CC team and tracking them on fulfilling their responsibilities. You will need to communicate
with different stake holders and are responsible for the strategy, planning and timeline. This challenging
position will develop your team leader skills and will test if you are able to host such a huge event!

Delegates
As delegates responsible you will be responsible for everything regarding the delegates. All
communication to the delegates with come from you and as well the promotion of the conferences in
order to get subscriptions will be handled by you. You will need to have excellent communication skills
and need to be flexible and fast in adaptation to changes or problems.

Events
As a responsible for events you will organize the special events during the conference. This includes the
65th anniversary, day 0, global village, events on the site to be chosen by the team. Secondly, you will
organize the study tour. You will have the opportunity to give the conference that extra special touch by
delivering amazing events.

Logistics
In organizing a conference, logistics takes an important part. As logistics responsible you will be
organizing all logistical processes. You will need to have an overview on how and when we will need to
move delegates but also you will be responsible for all materials during the conference. Being successful
in logistics requires excellent planning skills, coordination, communication and precision. Logistics
manager has a big part of a successful flow of the conference in its hands.

External Relations
As external relations responsible you will be responsible for all sales regarding the conference. In order
to create a sustainable conference we will need to fund our operations through selling different
products to companies in The Netherlands. Products could be partner presentations, online and/or
offline exposure etc. Next to that you will be responsible for getting in fund and sponsorships.

- Doing sales at companies (which are not yet national partner of AIESEC)

- Raising funds; meaning looking into possibilities to apply for government or non-government
funds

Extra general information
Team: you will work in a team of ten people
Timeline: you are expected to start directly once you have been selected and your function will be
finished at the end of March
Conference dates:
March 15th - day 0 and 65th celebration
March 16th-20th – conference
March 21st and 22nd – Study tour
Expected working hours:
You will be expected to full the functions part time, next to your studies. It will be around 15 hours a
week with a peak in the last two months, where it might be more.
Meetings:
You will have frequent meeting with the CC team. The CC team will consist of people throughout the
entire Netherlands so take into account that you might be travelling from time to time.

Part 4: application procedure
Step 1: Send your application to [email protected] on the 5th of November 2012 before 23:59 PM.
You application needs to exists out of:
- Curriculum vitae
- Motivation letter
Step 2: After you have submitted your application we will review it and let you know if you are invited
for a selection interview.
Step 3: If you are invited for an interview, you will be contacted to schedule a selection interview in
between 6th and 9th of November.
We will interview you using the CORE method and next to that we have some general questions
regarding your motivation and CV. Please prepare the interview using the explanations of the
competencies in the next chapter, in part two you saw the specific competencies per area which you will
need to prepare.
Step 4: Selection will happen somewhere in between 12th and 16th of November.
