Tools are not toys. They can be very dangerous if we don’t use them appropiately

1. MEASURE TOOLS

This is a SQUARE (escuadra)

We use a square to measure and mark right angles and 45 degrees angles

THIS IS A TAPE MEASURE (flexómetro o metro)

We use the tape measure to measure things in centimeters and millimeters

We use measure tools (instrumentos de medida) to measure (medir) objects

2. HOLDING TOOLS

This is a BENCH VICE (Tornillo de banco)

This is a F-CLAMP (Sargento)

We use holding tools (herramientas de sujeción) to hold(sujetar) objects

3. SAWS

This is a HANDSAW (serrucho). We use the handsaw to cut long wood boards

This is a COPING SAW (sierra de marquetería). We use the coping saw to cut thin, soft wood in curves

This is a HACKSAW (sierra de arco).

We can use the hacksaw to cut pieces of wood, metals and plastic

We use saws (sierras) to saw (serrar) materials

4. FILES, RASPS and SANDPAPERThis is a FILE (lima)

We can use a file to smooth (rebajar) small pieces of wood, metal or plastic

This is a RASP (escofina)

We can use a rasp to smooth big pieces of hard wood

THIS IS SAND PAPER (papel de lija)

We use sand paper to sand (lijar) materials, especially wood

5. HAMMERS for NAILING

This is a PIN HAMMER (Martillo de tapicero), for small things

This is a CLAW HAMMER (Martillo de carpintero), for big things

This is a NYLON HAMMER (Martillo de nylon).

We use it to hammer soft materials

We use hammers to nail (clavar) nails (tachas)

6. DRILLS

This is an ELECTRIC DRILL (taladro eléctrico). We use the electric drill to drill (taladrar) hard materials

This is a GIMLET (barrena).

We use the gimlet to drill thin and soft materials

We use DRILLS to DRILL (taladrar)

7. PLIERS AND SCREWDRIVERS

This is a screwdriver (destornillador)

We use a screwdriver to screw (atornillar) screws (tornillos)

These are pliers (alicates)

We can use pliers to hold objects and to cut cables.
