Reading We will continue reading group activities from

the start of the long days. Children should be reading every day and

that should be in a variety of forms (books, computer, newspaper, comics, etc).

We will expect any reading the children do to be recorded at the back of their diaries in the reading record

ORT books should be changed once or twice a week.

They need to still read out loud so they can pick up the punctuation. Also children should try to remember not to rush but to speak clearly.

Spelling On Friday new spellings will be given out. They have to practise writing them on the

sheet. Children will either have a spelling sheet

to complete which helps them practice the weekly spelling patterned. More able children will be expected to find 5 new words (based on the spelling pattern) which they will then have to use in a sentence.

Spelling sheets and sentences have to be handed in (returned) on Wednesday.

MyImaths. The great thing about the website is that it allows children to revise the work done in class and practice and correct their homework.

This resource will also be used in class. We will be able to track the children’s

progress.

General Uniform. Check that it is named and make sure

they are wearing the correct uniform. Two particular issues at the moment are children wearing sport shoes on non PE days and wristbands. This is not part of the uniform policy.

PE for 4.1 is on Monday PE for 4.2 is on Friday Water bottles: Please bring a water bottle in

school every day and they must be named. Children can bring a pencil case in but just 1. A USB stick is necessary for saving ICT work. We

use laptops in the class for ICT. They can always take work home and add to it. This will be a nice record of what they are doing in class to share with you.
