195 skylights that have an impact both inside and outside define the appearance of this extended museum.
The new section was constructed under the gardens of the Städel Museum. This provides an additional exhibition area of 2,500 square metres.
The ceiling of the subterranean extension depicts a soft curving and thus assures a unique sense of space inside.

The atrium was redesigned and the plant rooms and lifts were replaced.
