E-learning is a technology which supports teaching and learning using a computer web technology.

E-learning theory describes the cognitive science principles of effective multimedia learning using electronic educational technology.

Cognitive research and theory suggest that selection of appropriate concurrent multimedia modalities may enhance learning, as may application of several other principles.

E-learning has developed very fast due to internet. The internet and the world wide web has provided us with easy access to

information and knowledge. It is mostly associated with activities involving computers and interactive

networks simultaneously . The computer does not need to be the central element of the activity or

provide learning content . It bridges the gap between a teacher and a student in different ways.

LEARNER CENTERED

• In a true learner-centered environment , the learner is the beginning and end point of the learning process and the learner’s needs are the focus of the program.

• Tools are available as the learners needs.

• The quality of instruction in measured against standards.

• The student is an active partner in the learning process.

• The course is continually renewed through feedback from learners.

Page 4: E learning tool

LEARNER MONITORING

• Learners learn to assess their own progress.• Helping learners to identify the progress they have made , to

understand what they have achieved and what they need to do next, to make progress towards their goals and qualifications.

GRADING SYSTEM

• In a grading system learners are placed in ability bands that represents a range of scores.

• It reflects on individual learners performance in the form of certain level of achievement in relation to the whole group of learners.

Overview

Moodle was originally developed by Martin to help educators to create online courses with a focus on interaction and collaborative construction of content, and it is in continual evolution.

The first version of Moodle was released on 20 August 2002. Nowadays the Moodle Project is led and coordinated by Moodle HQ, an

Australian company of 30 developers which is financially supported by a network of sixty Moodle Partner service companies worldwide. Moodle's development has also been assisted by the work of open-source programmers.

Moodle as a learning platform can enhance existing learning environments. As an E-learning tool, Moodle has a wide range of standard and innovative

features such as calendar and Gradebook. Moodle is a leading virtual learning environment and can be used in many

types of environments such as education, training and development and in business settings.

learning projects Moodle is an open source web application used to create interactive online learning

sites. It's an online Learning Management System (LMS). It is used to create private websites with online courses for educators and trainers to

achieve learning goals. Moodle runs without modification on Unix, Linux, FreeBSD, Windows, OS X,

NetWare and any other systems that support PHP . Moodle also has import features for use with other specific systems, such as
