What is a green house?

Green houses are used to grow plants in

controlled conditions

These green houses are usually build in

houses with glass or plastic in which

plants will be grown in controlled

conditions

AUTOMATED GREEN HOUSE.

Green houses form an important part of the agriculture and

horticulture sectors of a country.

They can be used to grow plants under controlled climatic conditions

for optimal solutions.

Automated green house involves the automatic monitoring and

controlling of climatic parameters which directly or indirectly

govern the plant growth and their production.

In order to control the climate factors and environment automatically

we require a software.

Page 5: Embedded green house automation system

ABOUT THE SOFTWARE:

The software used here is Keil uversion3.It is an integrated

development equipment that helps you write compile and

debug embedded programs. It encapsulates the following

programs:

A project manager.

Tool configuration.

Editor

Powerful debugger.

Page 6: Embedded green house automation system

OBJECTIVE:

Build miniature green house which is equipped with automatic

monitoring and controlling system.

Constantly monitor and control environmental conditions in green

house to ensure it remains at present temperature , light, moisture

and humidity levels.

It focuses on saving water ,increasing efficiency and reducing the

environmental impacts on plants production.

The user can see the atmospheric conditions of the green house

plants on website and control the green house from far away places.

8051 MICROCONTROLLER

Page 8: Embedded green house automation system

WORKING OF MICRO CONTROLLER:

DEF:A control device which incorporates a micro processor.

A microcontroller is a general purpose device, but that is meant to

read data, perform limited calculations on that data and control its

environment based on those calculations.

The prime use of a microcontroller is to control the operation of a

machine using a fixed program that is stored in ROM and that does

not change over the lifetime of the system.

8051 micro controller has 40 pins which are having their specific

functioning.

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS:

An embedded system is a system which is going to do a predefined

specified task is the embedded system and is even defined as combination

of both software and hardware.

A general-purpose definition of embedded systems is that they are devices

used to control, monitor or assist the operation of equipment, machinery or

plant.

. "Embedded" reflects the fact that they are an integral part of the system.

The very simplest embedded systems are capable of performing only a

single function or set of functions to meet a single predetermined purpose.

LIGHT DEPENDENT RESISTOR:

A Photoresistor or light-dependent resistor(LDR) or photocell isa light-controlled variable resistor. The resistance of aPhotoresistor decreases with increasing incident light intensity; inother words, it exhibits photoconductivity.

Photoresistors come in many different types. Inexpensive cadmiumsulfide cells can be found in many consumer items such as cameralight meters, street lights, clock radios, alarms, and outdoor clocks.

They are also used in some dynamic compressors together with asmall incandescent lamp or light emitting diode to control gainreduction.

A light dependent resistor is a small, round semiconductor.

POWER SUPPLY:

A power supply is a hardware component that supplies power to an

electrical device.

receives power from an electrical outlet and converts the current

from AC (alternating current) to DC (direct current).

An AC source, a transformer, and a bridge rectifier (full diode

bridge) can turn an AC “wall” source into a usable DC source for

low –voltage electronics.

It also regulates the voltage to eliminate spikes and surges common

in most electrical systems.

Power supplies are rated in terms of the number of watts they

generate.

RELAYS:

A relay is an electrically operated switch.

These are remote control electrical switches that are controlled by

another switch, such as a horn switch or a computer as in a power

train control module, devices in industries, home based applications.

Relays allow a small current pin, 4-pin, 5-pin, and 6-pin, single

switch or dual switches.

Relays are used throughout the automobile. Relays which come in

assorted sizes, ratings, and applications, are used as remote control

switches. A typical vehicle can have 20 relays or more.

THERMISTOR:

A thermistor is a type of resistor whose resistance varies

significantly with temperature, more so than in standard resistors.

The word is a portmanteau of thermal and resistor.

LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY(LCD):

A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a thin, flat display device made up of any

number of color or monochrome pixels arrayed in front of a light source or

reflector.

LCD (liquid crystal display) is the technology used for displays in notebook and

other smaller computers. Like light-emitting diode (LED) and gas-plasma

technologies, LCDs allow displays to be much thinner than cathode ray tube

(CRT) technology

Page 18: Embedded green house automation system

SENSORS: In this project sensors play a very important role. here we can use various sensors

like light sensor, temperature sensor, humidity sensor etc.

LIGHT SENSOR:

A light sensor as its name suggests ,is a device that is used to detect light.

Page 19: Embedded green house automation system

SENSORS:

TEMPERATURE SENSOR: temperature sensor is also called as thermistor.

Thermistors are thermally sensitive resistors whose prime function is to exhibit a

large, predictable and precise change in electrical resistance when subjected to a

corresponding change in body temperature.

Page 20: Embedded green house automation system

SENSORS: HUMIDITY SENSOR: Humidity is the presence of water in air. The amount of water

vapor in air can affect human comfort as well as many manufacturing processes in

industries.

Page 21: Embedded green house automation system

ADVANTAGES:

Increase fertility.

Better productivity.

Increase in quality of crop.

Percentage of germination of seeds is high

in green house.

Page 22: Embedded green house automation system

FUTURE SCOPE:

The system which we are discussed above is

implemented on the board and results are shown.

But the system can work more efficiently with

present technology and may improve the existing

technology in the field of wireless communication

and with the wide improvement of GSM

technology which can improve Short Message

Service with the help of embedded technology

anything may become possible and easy.

Page 23: Embedded green house automation system

CONCLUSION:

With the wide improvement of wireless and GSM

technology. The system may be cost with

wireless sensors may little cost but it works with

more effectively. The system may be

implemented with the help of many

technologies but these technologies more

reliable, easy to implement, works effectively

and easy to operate.
