Narrow vertical recesses define the characteristic aluminum façade of the new office building group in Dusseldorf – the striking complex "Clara and Robert" by slapa oberholz pszczulny architekten links two new buildings with the listed Saarhaus and impresses with its extraordinary façade, for which the image of perforated plates of mechanical musical instruments served as a design element. The soil depth windows offer a variety of views into and out of the building and allow bright rooms with a pleasant quality of stay. The insulating glass used has been individually adapted to the orientation and function of the façade and, thanks to the LOW-E coating SILVERSTAR EN2plus from Glas Trösch, allows a very good room climate with a high degree of energy efficiency.

The discreet reflections on the aluminum façade and the glass elements give the office building named after the married composer couple Schumann a noble exterior that shimmers depending on the weather conditions. Both Clara and Robert are distinguished by a particular design feature: while Robert encases the renovated old building and links creatively the old and the new buildings through a corten steel extension, the narrow front side of Clara lives from a glass overhang – this four-storey glass cube protrudes from the aluminum cover and offers areas for conference or meeting rooms that benefit from a particularly good natural illumination.

Different insulating glasses were used for the respective glass elements, such as the glass cube, the full-glazed main entrances or the vertical window elements. In order to meet the constructive features and the different requirements for sun protection, heat protection and fire protection depending on the orientation of the façade, the construction as well as the thickness of the glass varies. Correspondingly, the triple-insulating glazing units have different Ug Values: Depending on their position and function, the lenses have values between 0,6 W/m2K und 0,9 W/m2K. Those who require good thermal insulation due to a small amount of sunshine have a very low Ug Value of only 0,6 W/m²K, while those with a higher energy input also have a higher Ug Value. All window elements additionally have sun protection elements, so that the rooms can be protected against overheating in case of excessive solar radiation.

The use of SILVERSTAR EN2plus also achieves a very good light transmission value of more than 70% in the triple glazing structure, which contributes to the brightness in the rooms. The color neutrality of SILVERSTAR EN2plus allows a clear view and transparency, while the low reflection value of 14% reduces disturbing reflections on the glass surfaces, thus enabling an improved view from the interior of the rooms.
