� Practice as many model question papers or earlier VTU examination question papers as you can in a simulated examination hall environment.

� Seek the faculty support for clarification of doubts.

� On the day of the examination, have a relaxed composure.

Don’ts � Don’t burn the midnight oil by study late into the night.

� Don’t go for last minute preparation as it only leads to confusion.

During the examination Do’s � Read, through the entire question paper first. This gives you an overall feel of the paper.

� It is required to answer five full questions out of total eight questions.

� Allot time for answering the questions proportionate to the marks assigned and try to

stick to the time that you allot for these questions. For example, Question 1 (a) With the necessary steps, explain the production of E-beam masks. 04 Marks (b) Derive the expression for Vin (switch point voltage) in the region C of a CMOS inverter.

(c) Describe with neat diagrams, the P – well fabrication process. 06 Marks (d) Define: VOH, VOL, VIH and VIL with respect to noise margin 04 Marks The duration of VTU theory examination for each subject is 3 hours = 180 minutes To answer each questions the time required is 180/5 = 36 minutes To answer for one marks, it needs 36 minutes/20 marks = 1.8 minutes Now to answer the questions 1(a), time required is: 4 marks x 1.8 minute = 7.2 minutes 1(b), time required is: 6 marks x 1.8 minute = 10.8 minutes 1(c), time required is: 6 marks x 1.8 minute = 10.8 minutes 1(d), time required is: 4 marks x 1.8 minute = 7.2 minutes Thus, total time taken to answer question 1 is 7.2 + 10.8 + 10.8 + 7.2 = 36 minutes, which is same as before calculated. � Keep an eye on your watch so that you don’t spend more time than planned on any

question. � Write your answers legibly with the question number written in the left margin.

� First, answer the questions that you are confident enough and set the priority in

answering the questions. � In case of numerical problems, remember to highlight your answers and write down all

the steps involved clearly. Be sure to include the units while giving the final answer. � Write down the equations, formulas and figures with all relevant details.

� While answering, draw appropriate diagrams or construct table, wherever required.

� Leave enough space in between your answers for each question, preferably by drawing a

line with a pen or pencil. � After answering the questions that you are confident, try answering the questions that you

are not confident. If your answer is correct, you stand to gain; if your answer is wrong, you don’t lose anything except the marks.

� It is very important that while answering the questions, make sure that you write the

relevant question number correctly on the answer sheet.
