A Sponsorship Opportunity
The 2012 4G Competitive Edge Filmmakers Challenge and First Look Film Festival is an innovative HBCU campaign powered by a 360 strategy that includes interactive social media tools, on- site engagement, and product brand
extensions with a cause marketing platform.
The 4G Competitive Edge Filmmakers
The 4G Competitive Edge Filmmakers Challenge will invite students attending Historically Black College and Universities
(HBCU) to shoot and produce a short film in a variety of creative forms including but not limited to commercial, drama, comedy and reality formats. Students are required to shoot their film with a Smartphone illustrating the ease and
services of the 4G platform.
4G Competitive Edge College Tour will visit (11) HBCU college campuses and give students interested in careers in the film industry business acumen through a series of workshops and panels and interaction with film industry experts. The tour
will also premiere Rainforest Films feature “Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man starring Chris Brown, Taraji P. Henson, Michael Ealey, Kevin Hart and Gabrielle Union.
The First Look Film Festival will combine creative expression
for would be film makers with an intense hands on boot camp
created specifically for college and HBCU students. This three
day event will be marketed as a annual “networking”
destination for the “who’s who” of the film world dedicated to
supporting the creative development of future filmmakers and
committed to taking the “first look.”
Campaign Components
Microsite will be launched and linked to sponsor websites and social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and You Tube
College tour promoting a successful career path and
short film competition at Historic Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) campuses – see timeline below for dates and locations.
News release distribution and multicultural market
media and social media outreach to outlets such as including: Facebook, Twitter, Steve Harvey Show, Ebony, Essence, Upscale, BET, TV One and AOL Black Voices
Media partnership with Vibe Magazine, which includes Vibe.com, Uptown and Uptown Professional
Celebrity Ambassadors - Partnership with actor Hosea
Chanchez and Producer Will Packer (see bio below) as face(s) of campaign and cross promotion efforts. Opportunities include:
o Theatrical screenings of Will Packer movies
on select college campuses creates an opportunity for on-site activation and meet and greet.
o Vignettes on microsite of celebrity
ambassadors promoting the campaign.
Panel will give students the opportunity to participate
in a career and financial education discussion with industry experts. The panelists, including many who
are HBCU graduates, will give students fresh insight on the elements necessary to gain a competitive edge in life.
Sampling Opportunities- During the tour, students
will be able to sample sponsor products and take an
exclusive peek at an independent film distributed
worldwide.
Contest Details
Short film competition will invite contestants to shoot and produce a short film through a variety of creative formats
such as commercial, dramatic, reality and/or documentary styles.
Competition targets students in HBCUs students enrolled in a 4-year college or university.
Two winners will be selected. Selection process includes pre-screening, then online voting through micro-site.
Two winners will get $2500.00 each
