5 Beginners Shortcuts For Playing Popular Songs On Piano Or Keyboard in Record Time

Are you desperate to learn keyboard or piano but are always put off by the amount of theory that is involved with learning a musical instrument.

What you may not know is that you don’t have to learn endless amounts of theory to be a top keyboard or piano player.

Many professional musicians have been self taught or play by ear and this has made them excel and become the artists that they are today.

Elton John is a fine example of a pianist that has dominated the pop charts for many years and had no formal musical training.

People who learn practically and are taught theory at a later stage tend to show more creativity when playing, and have a better chance of succeeding than people who are taught theory first.

It can be months before people who start off learning theory finally get the opportunity to play a proper piece of music, and by then are almost bored and un-interested and then sadly give up.

If you want to propel your learning and be playing your favourite songs in a short period of time, then here are five facts that will help you to achieve this goal quickly: -

15.Learn the basic theory, for example the notes on the keyboard and how to find the black notes, depending on whether they are a sharps or a flats.

17.Learn a simple contrary motion scale in C Major. This will get you use to using all your fingers and get you into good habits from the start.

19.Decide on the first piece of music you want to learn. Try to find a version of the song that is designed for a beginner. If this isn’t possible then get your teacher to adapt the music to suit your ability. There are always ways around playing the songs you want to play.

Start with the intro. Depending on your style of learning, some people prefer to learn hands separately then put a particular section together, where as others prefer to learn small sections hands together and work through it in this way.

Practice every day in short bursts, spending around 30 minutes a day playing. By dedicating yourself to regular practice sessions you are sure to be playing your favourite pieces in no time at all.
