I have also decided to analyse Blink 182 Up all night as this is a different genre, pop/punk. However although it may be a different genre it also present similar conventions as Holy Grail.

Firstly there are many technical conventions used as they use performance shots, such as where they are in the middle of the street playing as a band this shows us who they are. It also links to the fact that they are wanting to promote the ethos of rebellion as it is set in a urban area therefore disturbing others. Another specific shot used is close ups this helps us to identify with the band members and decide which one we like the most.

Fast paced editing is used, this is created by short takes; this mimics the pace of the music itself as well as helping to create a sense of rebellion and fast paced lifestyle.

The video is set in a very urban suburban area which also helps promote rebellion, this also helps us identify with the band more as to most people this would be a typical day to day setting. Punk style branded t-shirts are worn which helps us to identify the genre as well as making them appear normal.

Intertexuality is used as there is a sense of Jackass which is a text outside of the video; this also helps to encourage the sense of rebellion and youth. The

visual and lyrics in this video are matched, although this is a mainly concept video there is a slight feeling of narrative as it represents love with the couple sat on the sofa in the street as well as the narrative of rebellion.
