audience see criminal behaviour punished, this often reassurance that criminal justice works. But the TV series The Wire does not offer this reassurance; it exposes corruption in criminal justice system.

- Audiences are active; they predict narrative resolution

- They are sociable, people talk about then, set up fan blogs est.

- Popular with audience- They can make money; DVD box sets- Some can be cheap to make and organise, codes

and convections (camera work est.) already established

- Flexible storylines; options limitless- Good at filling TV schedule

- Have potential to be series and limitless e.g Taggert, Sapranos
