WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?

Looking at my results from my questionnaire I did for target audience research and furthermore the interview I did, I managed to create my target audience.

WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT? I will be aiming my magazine at women

predominantly, but the magazine will be open for a male readership. I targeted women because they are most likely to buy magazines for entertainment, rather than boys who are more likely read shorter articles on the internet that buy a full copy.

The age range for my magazine that I have targeted is 16-25. They have a small amount of disposable income that they are more likely spend on entertainment, such as magazine and live music events. Furthermore this age group are more likely to be interested in new music acts as they like to discover new and the coolest things.

WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT? When I asked what was the most

popular occupation in my target age it was full-time education. I used this to determine that they like to go to social events like gigs but also that they like to discover new unknown artists.

This all creates an interest for indie music because the indie music scene is very much focused on new artists playing lots of live music events.

HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE? Using my results and Marlow's Hierarchy

of Needs I have appealed to my target audience by including lots of links to live music events. This relates to Marlow’s theory of every human basic needing to feel a part of something. Live music events are social events therefore appealing to human’s instinct to belong in groups of common interests. Furthermore when I asked in my researched which people like to get to live music events and they were very much interested in them.

HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE? I also attract my target audience through

the image on my front cover. Using Charles Sanders Peirce’s theory of signs I have signified my model as a strong female as she dominates the page and has direct eye contact with the audience. Furthermore the audience infer that the emphasis on her eyes and the body language means that she is an intense artist who is passionate about her music. This appeals to the audience because it makes them infer that if she is that passionate she must be producing good music.

HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE? I have also used my target age group to

symbolise their interest and knowledge of technology. This age group have one of the highest possession rates of smartphones. I therefore used this to include lots of links to the Vivere website and app, both by listing it or using QR codes. This makes the reader feel that they can always be up to date with the latest news about their favourite bands.
