Question 1

When producing our media product, we firstly had to decide on a genre, we chose action because me and my group decided this was our favourite genre, and we had a good knowledge of this genre.

We then moved on to look at movies all ready out that not only feel under the same Genre, but movies we liked as well, for example the James Bond franchise and theBourne franchise.

After this primary research stage our group

decided to look at the opening 2 minutes of

action movies and deconstructed some this

gave us a good idea of what sort of shots use

and how to use them effectively.

When deconstructing action movies we also made notes of key things that were happening for example we noted that in most of the action movies we deconstructed, the establishing shot has some sort of chase or violence we made sure to include this in our film.

The WOLFPACK!

Question 1

When looking at the first 2 minutes of action movies, we looked/made notes on four specific areas these being:

Camera work Sound Editing Mise en scene

Everything else!

When choosing the name of our film we decided to keep the title to one word we believe this is more eye catching, and sticks in the viewers head more longer titles. For example Inception. This works well for this movie as it is easy to remember. When we decided to call our film unlocked we linked to something in the film e.g. A Key, this works well for our film as it shows what is relevant to the viewer.

When choosing our establishing shot we decided to use a close up as we found these quite effective as they seem to drop the viewer right in on the action, We saw examples of this in Inception and The Bourne Supremacy. We decided to do a close up panning shot of walking feet at the start, this makes the viewer wonder what is happening and carry on watching.

Question 1When deciding what music to put into our film, we came together as group, and decided the best music to include in a fast pace action would be fast pace music. We looked on a free play music and found some fast tempo drum and bass music. When deconstructing some action movies we noted that during a chase they also use fast paced music. For example in the Bourne Supremacy.

Also when doing our genre research, we saw that in the majority of movies after the establishing shot it introduces the main character or a specific character that may play a key role in the film for example in the Bourne Supremacy we are straight away introduce to the main character this also happens in Inception, We decided to do this in our movie Unlocked? As we thought introducing the main character straight away will allow the audience to Associate with the main character, and want to no what is happening and who the main character is.

Question 1

I feel looking at and deconstructing four action movies was very helpful as they gave our group plenty of helpful ideas that without our movie would not be as immersive or appealing to the audience for example we gathered a idea that fast pace music would help make a chase scene seem more realistic and dramatic. Another example of how the research we did has helped was a establishing shot we believe a establishing shot is key because it tells the audience the location and the surrounding area.
