3. This dance has been originated back to the Portuguese and was brought to Malacca during the time of the spice trade. 4. This particular dance is done with couples at a fast paced tempo with playfulness and teasing among the couples. 5. The dance tempo can be compared to the Western style step ball change. 6. 7. To create a beat for the dance a Sape (like a Banjo) is used, accompanied by clapping hands and singing. 8. This dance is used to express happiness and gratitude and give thanks to the gods for blessing the dance and allowing it to be accepted among the Kenyah tribe. 9. The Tarian Lilin
10. This type of dance takes a lot of skill to control the candles that are placed in the palms of the dancers' hands. 11. The dance was originated from Sumatra and is a performance about a young woman who was left behind by her suitor who left to go find wealth.
