On Tuesday September 23rd, 2014, history will repeat itself when TMG Entertainment rolls out the red carpet for the highly anticipated “The Best of Silver State Awards IV – CulinaryAwards" to benefit the “Epicurean Charitable Foundation” at the Springs Preserve. Emmy award winning journalists, Nina Radetich, and Dayna Roselli will return for the 4th consecutive time along with performer Chris Phillips of Zowie Bowie to host the Awards Ceremony. In addition three-time Academy Awards & Golden Globe winning Producer/Director, George Parra (American Hustle, Nebraska, Silver Lining PlayBook, Descendants & Sideways) will co-executive produce the awards.

Over 300 prominent leaders in the Food & Beverage Industry will join to honor & recognize excellence & exemplary achievements in Las Vegas’s Culinary Industry. The Silver State Awards the only on stage production awards presentation of it’s kind that is supported by top political leaders in Nevada including The Governor, Lt. Governor, U.S. Senators, Members of the U.S. Congress, Mayors, and the Entire Clark County Commissioners.

“A True People’s Choice Award” over 140,000 votes were cast and certified on the previous awards.

Awards Overview

The Epicurean Charitable Foundation is a Las Vegas-based, non-profit organization founded in 2001 and is comprised of 25 of Las Vegas’s top food & beverage and hospitality executives. It is

committed to enriching the lives of deserving and talented local students passionate about a career in hospitality and/or the culinary arts in

Clark County.

Awards Nomination Process

There are four (4) nominees in sixteen (16) categories. Members of the nomination committee will return ballots with their selections in each category to the Awards Official Accounting Firm to be tabulated and the results will be certified. The four nominees receiving the highest total number of votes in each category on the nomination ballots will become the official nominees for that category. The nominees for each category will be announced on the official Facebook page. All nominees must be residents/ companies and/or conduct business within Las Vegas / Clark County. Everyone (consumers and industry professionals) will be able to log onto the official Facebook page and cast their vote (one vote) for their favorite nominees. The final results are known only by the Awards Official Accounting firm and are kept secret until the announcement live on stage during the ceremony.

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -FOX5 was a double winner on Tuesday night when the 2nd Best of the Silver State Awards were announced in Las Vegas.

The award show presented by TMG Entertainment named KVVU the Best Local TV Station and evening anchors John Huck and Olivia Fierro were named Best Local TV Anchors - Duo.

Huck and Fierro were also presenters during the ceremony that took place at the Springs Preserve.

The awards were determined by public online vote. Organizers said more than 25,000 votes were counted.

The Best of the Silver State Awards recognizes southern Nevada's landmarks, services, hotels, resorts, broadcasters and entertainment. Categories range from Best Museum to Best Hotel.

The ceremony also presented a special Leadership Award to Sen. Harry Reid, D-NV, and the Pioneer Award to Wayne Newton.

Vegas Seven Silver State Awards Honor Local Restaurants,

A truly magical evening is how I would caption this great event at The Venetian. Three WORLD famous chefs were honored, along with dozens of other chefs, owners and

managers of the finest in the state. Our industry can't get too many accolades considering how hard a business it is, and the kudos were flowing freely that night for sure.

The star of the evening was Chef Kerry Simon, not only because of his fabulous professional accomplishments but also the courageous battle he is waging with a devastating illness. The love for this man was heartfelt by everyone in the room, and he was most gracious in returning the love to his supporting staff.

The Visionary Award was the most prestigious of the night.

Chef Emeril Lagasse was most gracious and humble in receiving the Leadership Award. We've seen him do so much in our community, including many donations to the Andre Agassi fundraisers.The Pioneer Award went to Sirio Maccioni, icon of industry and founder of the fabulous Le Cirque chain. MC Robin Leach recalled the time he dined at Le Cirque NYC, joining 3 former U. S. Presidents who were dining at the same time, and the time the Pope ordered take-out from the restaurant.

The Industry Champion Award went to Alex Stokes, Wynn's Food Safety Director for many years, for leading industry efforts to make Las Vegas a SAFE place to eat.

Lots of pictures, lots of love, shared bythe honorees and attendees. And the benefactor of the evening was the Nevada Restaurant Association's Education Foundation. Great job by TMG Entertainment and Venetian VP of F&B Sebastien Silvestri for a fabulous presentation. The food and drink were first class. Don't miss this fabulous celebration of excellence next year, and take advantage of the excellent values in the silent auction that accompanies the event.

I can reveal that congratulations are due to New York restaurateur Sirio Maccioni, who has restaurants here at Bellagio and Aria, and star chef Kerry Simon when they are honored with Silver State Awards by the Nevada Restaurant Association on Dec. 13 at the Venetian.

Sirio, the founder of the legendary Le Cirque, will fly in from Manhattan to receive the Pioneer Award . Kerry gets a special tip of my heart and hat for his courage to receive the Visionary Award. A special presentation also will be made to celebrity TV chef Emeril Lagasse. All have been good friends for more than a quarter century.

I will join Dayna Roselli and Nina Radetich as hosts of the awards to honor “excellence and superior achievements.” More than 13,000 votes were cast to the Nevada Restaurant Association, and its Educational Foundation will be the beneficiary. Emeril and I will lead the hotel’s Culinary Clash contest later that weekend.

The prestigious Silver State Awards that recognize excellence are tonight, and former Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award. I have the honor of joining Clark County Commissioner Lawrence Brown to make the presentation and then the showdown of Celine Dion, “Jersey Boys” and Cirque du Soleil’s “O” and “Ka” vying for Best Production Show on the Strip.

More than 300 prominent Nevada residents will honor nominees and winners in 36 Arts, Leisure, Hospitality and Entertainment categories at Summerlin Performing Arts Center. Sen. Harry Reid and TV journalists Jessica Moore, Nina Radetich, Dayna Roselli, Chris Saldana and John Huck also are presenters at the televised people’s choice-themed award. Congresswoman Dina Titus said: “It’s important we take time to recognize the accomplishments of those who have contributed to making Las Vegas a better community for us all. No one deserves it more than Jan Jones. She is truly an icon of this community.”

Congratulations are in order all around. Penn & Teller won Best Entertainment honors at Wednesday night’s Silver State Awards, “O” won over “Ka,” Celine Dion and “Jersey Boys” for Best Production Show, and Caesars Palace won for Best Casino.
