A blog is a type of website which is usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.

It is designed for readers to have the ability to leave comments in an interactive format.

YouTube is a video sharing website where users can upload, view and share video clips.

All different types of videos can be found on YouTube such as comedy, learning, movie trailers and sport videos.

YouTube was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim.

They came up with the idea when they were having difficulty sharing videos with each other.

In October 2006 Google Inc acquired YouTube for $1.65 million.

The first thing you need to do is to register an account with your details.

You must provide a username, password and information about yourself that you don’t mind people knowing.

When you have finished registering go to the YouTube website www.youtube.com and log in using your username and password.

Once you have logged in you can access a lot more videos and will be able to upload your own.

Click the upload link on the top right hand corner and select video.

This will take you into a window that allows you to upload any videos you wish.

If possible reduce the size of the file then upload it onto your YouTube account. The maximum size of the file is 1GB and cannot go for longer than 10 minutes.

When uploading a video you are able to set up the setting so only friends can see it

Searching for video very easy. Just type in the video you looking for in the

search engine that is provided. If you don't know the name of the video you

can type in key words of the video you are looking for. For example soccer goals, Russell Brand etc.

Its a visual form of teaching. May help children stay concentrated and better understand what they are learning.

Videos are normally not to long and it goes through a step by step process that is usually very clear on how to do something.

If you don’t understand it the first time it won’t matter because you can play the video as many times as you like over and over until you have achieve what you set out to do

Can be very distracting and if you are teaching a large class.

Would become very difficult to monitor what each student was viewing.

Certain children may become easily distracted and look for other videos.

Schools with slow Internet will make videos on YouTube play very slowly with many breaks/glitches in the videos.

The purpose of our blog was to get peoples opinions on whether or not YouTube would be a good learning tool for children.

We received some good comments from different people such as parents, children and teachers.
