The plan:Do the most goodIn creating the 2020 Legacy of Good Plan, we looked across our value chain to identify what’s most material, talked with many of our stakeholders and then set a series of 21 goals in three key areas:

• Our people • Our communities • Our environment

Today, we’re on track to meet many of our goals by the year 2020. In the following slides, you’ll learn about seven of these goals that are helping us build a Legacy of Good.

Last year, 416 of Dell’s products met ENERGY STAR® standards.

• Dell has reduced the energy intensity of our whole product portfolio by 43% since 2011.

• Dell’s energy efficiency work will save last year’s customers $825 million in electricity costs compared to those from 2011.

• We’ve committed to reducing energy intensity by 80% by the year 2020 – a goal recognized by CDP as a target that will help keep global temperature increases below 2°C.

We’ve recovered 1.6 billion pounds of electronics since 2007.

• Dell has the world’s largest technology recycling program, servicing customers and businesses in 83 countries and territories.

• We made 3.4 million pounds of closed-loop plastic parts from old computers recycled through our takeback programs last year.

• Dell’s Reconnect partnership with Goodwill® offers free computer recycling at 2,000+ convenient drop-off locations in the U.S.

Create better access and brighter futures

Since 2012, 1.6 million underserved children globally have been given access to Dell technology and 21st century skills.

• 11 solar-powered Dell Learning Labs provide technology-based learning to communities without electricity.

• Our programs give many participants the opportunity to learn about and use technology for the very first time.

• Dell works with 62 youth learning partners in 15 countries, providing funding, our volunteer time and the latest technology.

Link innovation to our supply chain

With 72% more audits and increased trainings last year, Dell is driving better social and environmental practices in our supply chain.

• Dell increased investments in supplier trainings and development – training 180 suppliers in the last year alone.

• We moved up to #2 in IPE Green Choice Alliance’s Corporate Information Transparency Index (Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs – a nonprofit organization in China).

• Dell spent more than $3 billion annually with diverse businesses in each of the last 4 years.

Advancetreatment,advancehope

In partnership with TGen, whole genome sequencing analysis for children’s cancer and other diseases has been reduced from weeks to 8 hours.

• Now, TGen can almost double the number of patients it serves, all by significantly enhancing the capabilities of their Dell-designed high-performance computing solution.

• With funding from Dell, TGen launched the world’s first FDA-approved precision medicine trial that applies various treatments at the point of a pediatric cancer diagnosis.

• With a distributed, cloud-based solution provided by Dell, medical professionals from clinical trial sites can now collaboratively review information and create better cancer treatment plans.

Wasteless andaccomplishmore

Approximately 93% of Dell packaging materials (by weight) is sustainably sourced and easily recyclable or compostable.

• 7 out of 10 Dell shipments arrive in 100% waste-free packaging.

• We’re the first in the industry to use innovative materials like wheat straw, bamboo and mushrooms as part of our materials portfolio.

• Our packaging reductions saved $13 million this year and $65.9 million since 2009.

• Boxes are getting reused 7 times as a result of our services team being sustainably minded.

Create a net positive future through technology

Dell aspires to be a Net Positive organization, focused on creating value while delivering socially and environmentally regenerative outcomes.

• We’re setting out to prove that our technology can have an impact that’s 10 times greater than our collective footprint.

• Dell is a founding member of the Net Positive Project (NPP) – a new coalition to create an ambitious, global Net Positive vision with a rigorous, detailed roadmap for action.

• We also encourage employee participation, such as with our U.S. telecommuting efforts – cutting 35,000 metric tons of CO2 annually and saving employees $12 million in fuel costs.
